  • UCLA could lose in triple-OT to the #11 team in the country, and still drop out of the polls. They’re at #22. There’s no margin for error for the Bruins. Just look who’s behind them…

#23 Tenn (2-1; only loss is to #25 Fla)
    #24 Iowa (3-0)
    #25 Fla (2-1; beat #23 Tenn)

And there are currently 10 other undefeated P5 teams below UCLA in the…[Read more]

  • If Colo beats Ore, and Utah beats UCLA, Utah will move ahead of Ore in the polls. If Ore beats CU, Utah won’t. And CU might even drop out of the polls entirely, which isn’t good for the Pac-12.

    Go Buffs!

  • FWIW, Colorado abandoned the Pac-12 before Oregon did. Had CU (and Ariz) not panicked to flipped to the Big 12, it’s unlikely the BigTen would have swooped in to snatch up UWa and UO, and we wouldn’t have been stuck having to join the worst P5 league in the country.

  • Going head-to-head with CU vs anybody will kill your viewership rating. They’re the highest rated team in the country right now, in terms of viewership.

    1. Colo 25.3M
    2. Fla St 15.8M
    3. Ala 13.6M
    4. Neb 13.1M
    5. Tex & LSU 12.0M
    7. Colo St 9.3M
    8. So Car 8.8M
    9. Ohio St 8.7M
    10. TCU 8.5M

  • FWIW, Florida cracked the AP’s Top-25, so in that regard, we HAD beaten a ranked opponent.

Now it remains to be seen if the Gators manage to REMAIN in that poll. And it’s not likely they’ll be challenged very much next week when they host UNC-Charlotte Saturday evening, so I wouldn’t expect them to lose their spot in next week’s poll.

  • Too soon. Every team has a bad game on occasion. And CU’s happened to be a “rivalry” game. Personally, I think the REAL Colorado team looks more like the one who’d showed up in Ft Worth earlier this month, than the one who’d edged CSU in 2OT last night.

It doesn’t matter if the foul was inconsequential. What matters is that it happened. It was the right call. The problem on that play wasn’t the refs. It was Mokofisi. Hopefully he learns from it.

If ‘Bama wins, there’s a chance Utah can move up in the polls. If Texas wins, we won’t.

And we’re going to need Oregon to beat Texas Tech by no more than 7-pts, or they’ll definitely leapfrog us.

I have a much higher opinion of Travis Wilson than that. I think he was on of the best QBs to have ever suited up at Utah. No, he wasn’t as good as Mitchell, Smith, Johnson, Huntley, or Rising, but Wilson would have had the “QB coaches” those other guys had, rather than getting saddled with ARod, he would most likely have been drafted. He had…[Read more]

  • Correct you are EagleMountainUte. Utah didn’t finish Thursday night’s game well. We won, but we let UF back into the game late in the 4th. Baylor might be looking to prove something next weekend, but I think Utah will be liking to prove something too. We will definitely NOT be looking ahead to the Weber St game.

With only the Ore St-SJSU game to go, the Pac-12 has already gone 12-0 in games during Wk-0/Wk-1. We’re the only conference to have gone undefeated thus far, and it’s not like we’d been playing a weak SOS SEC early season schedule.

I can’t remember Utah ever playing in a conference with this kind of season opener!

  • PhiladelphiaUte replied to the topic SEC arrogance in the forum Football 1 year ago

Plus they only have to play 8 conference games instead of 9. That provides for more room on your schedule to play an FCS team AND a bunch of additional matchups vs the MAC, Sun Belt, and C-USA.

  • PhiladelphiaUte replied to the topic Who's going to Baylor? in the forum Football 1 year ago

    I’ll be there.

  • Well…all RED, plus those unnecessarily busy (re: tacky) BLACK sleeves anyway.

I was really hoping we were going to finally retire those mismatched sleeves, and go with that style we’d been supporting in those 2 Rose Bowl appearances, with the occasional mix of our Blackout unis, and those awesome RED/GRAY ’60s throwbacks we’d worn vs UCLA back in 2019.

I don’t know about the fans in SEC country, but nobody in BigTen or ACC country thinks of Utah as a “WAC” school. Utah has earned a lot of respect in BigTen country by hammering Alabama in the 2009 Sugar Bowl, and going 3-1 vs Michigan since 2002. When I’d attended the Ore St @ Penn St game back in Sept 2008, there were a ton of PSU fans talking…[Read more]

  • If an American flies to China, then flies back to America, does that make him a Chinese-American?

  • They’re doing more than that. They’d started a thread on Reddit by summarizing in THEIR own words what Whittingham said and/or meant, and [accurately] banking on Big 12 fans not actually listening to what Whittingham said. This way, they can rile up Big 12 fans by telling them Utah wants out of the Big 12, and thinks we’re going to the…[Read more]

  • I’m wondering if now that ybU-p will be a conference opponent, will they have to buy out the return game they owed us from the 2020 Covid season, that Harlan pushed down the road so as to not disrupt the current series. Utah played in Provostan in 2019, and again in 2021. That’s back-to-back roadies with no return game.

  • PhiladelphiaUte replied to the topic I find it amusing in the forum They So Poo Poo 1 year ago

I’d posted this before, but last Winter/Spring, there were a bevy of zoobies on cougarboard bragging about creating fake Utah Twitter handle accounts to rile up Big 12 fans, to make Utah fans look bad. They used the very real Ute fan Pig Bus as their inspiration, but basically echoed his commentary in an attempt to make it look there wasn’t…[Read more]

  • Utah could go undefeated, but one of those wins could be over a team with a losing record, whereby we’d only won by a FG, and zoob nation would call it a “flop”. And I know this to be true. We’d already seen it in 2008.

On the flip side, the tdS could eke out 6 wins, and back into the worst bowl in the conference, and they’d call that season a…[Read more]
