Boulder was my favorite road trip back when I was playing lacrosse at the U. I love Boulder!

I’d have preferred they’d kept the Utah-Colorado game instead of Utah-TSPP.

PhiladelphiaUte replied to the topic QB recruiting in the forum Football 1 year, 1 month ago
Not so. Jordan Wynn was a very good QB. His problem was that he was too fragile. Also, Travis Wilson. With him, it wasn’t that we didn’t sign a good QB. It was that we DID sign Aaron Roderick as his position coach.

Since joining the Pac-12, Utah has gone 3-2 (.600) in Corvallis, and this is probably the best “Oregon St” team we will have faced. That’s enough to make me nervous.

PhiladelphiaUte replied to the topic Oregon State, Washington State Will Expand to the Big 12 Or ESPN Loses $320 Mill in the forum Football 1 year, 2 months ago
We should invite Wazzu and Ore St one day after the Pac-12 folds. That way, they’ll be sole owner of the PACN, and can negotiate their entrance into the Big 12 by bringing it with them. We can then rebrand it, and lease it to ESPN — like we should have done all along, and the SECN had always done.
And for anyone who thinks “no way, the PACN…[Read more]

Only 219-yds Total Offense today. That won’t do in Corvallis!

Utah will move up to #10 in the AP, and #9 in the Coaches poll.

PhiladelphiaUte replied to the topic Utah Schedule After Week 4 in the forum Football 1 year, 2 months ago
UCLA could lose in triple-OT to the #11 team in the country, and still drop out of the polls. They’re at #22. There’s no margin for error for the Bruins. Just look who’s behind them…
#23 Tenn (2-1; only loss is to #25 Fla)
#24 Iowa (3-0)
#25 Fla (2-1; beat #23 Tenn)And there are currently 10 other undefeated P5 teams below UCLA in the…[Read more]

PhiladelphiaUte replied to the topic Why I want Oregon to crush Colorado in the forum Football 1 year, 2 months ago
If Colo beats Ore, and Utah beats UCLA, Utah will move ahead of Ore in the polls. If Ore beats CU, Utah won’t. And CU might even drop out of the polls entirely, which isn’t good for the Pac-12.
Go Buffs!

PhiladelphiaUte replied to the topic Why I want Oregon to crush Colorado in the forum Football 1 year, 2 months ago
FWIW, Colorado abandoned the Pac-12 before Oregon did. Had CU (and Ariz) not panicked to flipped to the Big 12, it’s unlikely the BigTen would have swooped in to snatch up UWa and UO, and we wouldn’t have been stuck having to join the worst P5 league in the country.

Going head-to-head with CU vs anybody will kill your viewership rating. They’re the highest rated team in the country right now, in terms of viewership.
1. Colo 25.3M
2. Fla St 15.8M
3. Ala 13.6M
4. Neb 13.1M
5. Tex & LSU 12.0M
7. Colo St 9.3M

9. Ohio St 8.7M

PhiladelphiaUte replied to the topic Utes back in the top ten. Do we deserve to be there? in the forum Football 1 year, 2 months ago
FWIW, Florida cracked the AP’s Top-25, so in that regard, we HAD beaten a ranked opponent.
Now it remains to be seen if the Gators manage to REMAIN in that poll. And it’s not likely they’ll be challenged very much next week when they host UNC-Charlotte Saturday evening, so I wouldn’t expect them to lose their spot in next week’s poll.

PhiladelphiaUte replied to the topic Colorado boxscore – future 5-7 Colorado in the forum Football 1 year, 2 months ago
Too soon. Every team has a bad game on occasion. And CU’s happened to be a “rivalry” game. Personally, I think the REAL Colorado team looks more like the one who’d showed up in Ft Worth earlier this month, than the one who’d edged CSU in 2OT last night.

PhiladelphiaUte replied to the topic He Tried Not To Score in the forum Football 1 year, 2 months ago
It doesn’t matter if the foul was inconsequential. What matters is that it happened. It was the right call. The problem on that play wasn’t the refs. It was Mokofisi. Hopefully he learns from it.

PhiladelphiaUte replied to the topic Texas at Alabama in the forum Football 1 year, 2 months ago
If ‘Bama wins, there’s a chance Utah can move up in the polls. If Texas wins, we won’t.
And we’re going to need Oregon to beat Texas Tech by no more than 7-pts, or they’ll definitely leapfrog us.

PhiladelphiaUte replied to the topic Perspective in the forum Football 1 year, 2 months ago
I have a much higher opinion of Travis Wilson than that. I think he was on of the best QBs to have ever suited up at Utah. No, he wasn’t as good as Mitchell, Smith, Johnson, Huntley, or Rising, but Wilson would have had the “QB coaches” those other guys had, rather than getting saddled with ARod, he would most likely have been drafted. He had…[Read more]

PhiladelphiaUte replied to the topic Baylor is now a trap game. Yikes! in the forum Football 1 year, 2 months ago
Correct you are EagleMountainUte. Utah didn’t finish Thursday night’s game well. We won, but we let UF back into the game late in the 4th. Baylor might be looking to prove something next weekend, but I think Utah will be liking to prove something too. We will definitely NOT be looking ahead to the Weber St game.

PhiladelphiaUte replied to the topic PAC 12:( in the forum Football 1 year, 2 months ago
With only the Ore St-SJSU game to go, the Pac-12 has already gone 12-0 in games during Wk-0/Wk-1. We’re the only conference to have gone undefeated thus far, and it’s not like we’d been playing a weak SOS SEC early season schedule.
I can’t remember Utah ever playing in a conference with this kind of season opener!
-
PhiladelphiaUte replied to the topic SEC arrogance in the forum Football 1 year, 2 months ago
Plus they only have to play 8 conference games instead of 9. That provides for more room on your schedule to play an FCS team AND a bunch of additional matchups vs the MAC, Sun Belt, and C-USA.
