My goals would be:
1. Open up the offense. Give Wilson experience, and let him make mistakes. (Are Whit and Lud even capable of that, though?)
2. Make a bowl game.
3. Beat BYU. (Though it sickens me that we’re back to a point where we may measure the success of the rest of our season on whether or not we beat BYU instead of whether or not we’re…[Read more] -

If I were an Ok St fan, the part that would bother me was when he repeatedly said he didn’t think they had a good game plan on offense. The way he made it sound, it wasn’t just something in hindsight after seeing different nuances than they expected, but that from the start he didn’t think it was a good plan.
Like, aren’t you the head coach? If…[Read more]

And here I always just assumed those southern boys weren’t much for counting, so they just didn’t bother with any numbers.

PNW Ute replied to the topic Arizona vs Utah Penalties in the forum Football 1 month, 3 weeks ago
I’d think they had more penalties at home simply because they were the first two games of the season, not because of the location.

PNW Ute replied to the topic Utah vs byu-p in the forum They So Poo Poo 1 month, 3 weeks ago
I don’t think BYU will be undefeated at that point, but it’s possible. They have a big home field advantage (like Utah), and their D absolutely respectable under Hill. I think it’s likely a boneheaded decision or two by Sitake will cost them game, and they definitely have some loseable games on the way. But so far it feels like the top teams in th…[Read more]

PNW Ute replied to the topic Great win over the Cowboys, but one glaring problem? in the forum Football 1 month, 3 weeks ago
I disagree with that take. Oklahoma State hadn’t given up a sack all season. Their O-Line hasn’t been as good as expected at run blocking, but they’ve been excellent at pass blocking. And their QB routinely fit Eid of the ball very quickly. Our pass rush was just fine. It’s not like he was getting six seconds to read the defense every down. H…[Read more]

Colorado. Baylor fumbled the ball on first and goal for the final play as their player dove forward to get into the endzone.

Wow. Amazing finish to regulation. Amazing finish to overtime.

PNW Ute replied to the topic let’s talk about rising in the forum Football 1 month, 3 weeks ago
This wasn’t a situation like last year. It wasn’t the team expecting him to play but a doctor held him out. He was having trouble gripping the ball, and wasn’t getting enough velocity on his throws during pregame warmups. Wilson gave the team the better chance to win today. Period.

PNW Ute replied to the topic Coach Ludwig and technology in the forum Football 2 months, 1 week ago
Ludwig did have something on the table in front of him that he would look down at. I’m guessing probably paper, but could have been a screen. But even if Ludwig isn’t personally on a tablet during the game, doesn’t mean other members of to staff aren’t. The other coaches up in the box with Ludwig clearly had tablets. And they’re all communicating.

“premodona”?
To quote Ted Lasso, “It’s prima donna. Who the f*ck says “pre-Madonna”? What the f*ck does that even mean?”

Will Cristobal still be at Miami then? Things seemed to go pretty well last time we played him at Allegiant.

Now I have the sweet image of Ludwig, Harding, etc. pouring over hours and hours of game film on Sundays in preparation, and at the end of each meeting, “You know what fellas, I’m pretty sure we can just run up the middle on them.”

PNW Ute replied to the topic Let's do the math on the 2024 football team in the forum Football 10 months, 1 week ago
I agree with you. But, it says a lot about where we’ve come as a program that 8-4 is an “underwhelming season.”
With the new conference, and the expanded playoffs, we should reasonably be in the hunt for a conference championship and the playoffs nearly every season.

There is no Big XII network. They have an agreement with ESPN and Fox series of stations to televise games.
There was Big XII network, but I think it ceased like 10 years ago. Get ready to subscribe to ESPN+!

PNW Ute replied to the topic Broughton to TCU – Calhoun to Utah? in the forum Football 10 months, 2 weeks ago
I’m not saying Utah can’t throw over the top on him. I’m saying I’ve seen a lack of empirical evidence that Utah will throw over the top on anyone.

Bold of you to assume that Utah will ever throw over the top.

PNW Ute replied to the topic Why not start Rose? in the forum Football 11 months, 1 week ago
I agree that it would be nice to get Rose time and experience. And I hope gets lots of reps in practice and some substantial time in the game. But I view it as a culture thing, too. Bowls are rewards for a season, and Whit wants to reward Barnes. Let him go out as a bowl game starter. He’s sure as hell earned it.
Part of the draw to Utah for many…[Read more]

PNW Ute replied to the topic Don’t care for UW, but Lanning and NikeU can suck on that in the forum Football 11 months, 3 weeks ago
But can’t you say they had to try the onside kick, for the exact same reason, because the results didn’t pan out? Oregon wasn’t able to stop Washington. Washington ran the clock out. If they had kicked away… Washington still would have ran the clock out. There’s zero reason to believe that UO could stop UW and get the ball back the way the game…[Read more]
