Utah replied to the topic 2024 schedule – Hot off the press in the forum Football 10 months ago
Totally agreed. It was so easy to go to road games in the PAC-12. Everyone was so close.
@Oklahoma State – no thanks.
@Houston – eh
@UCF – Ok Disney World is there…oh, you put it the weekend of Thanksgiving when Disney is packed? No thanks.Bleh.
Our best home games are TCU or BYU…back to the MWC we go…

Utah started the topic Breakdown of Utah's Schedule in the forum Football 10 months ago
Alright. When looking at a schedule, you look for a couple of things: 1 – do you play multiple weeks on the road? That second game on the road is killer and usually a loss. 2 – where are your byes? Who do you play before/after and who does your opponent play before/after? 3 – Tough teams lined up together. USC a couple years ago played Alabama,…[Read more]

Holy Shit. UCF’s schedule is so easy. Ours isn’t that hard, but theirs is a cake walk. They get BYU and us and Colorado at home. No Oklahoma State…and everyone else kinda sucks in the Big 12.
They should be in the conference finals.

Utah replied to the topic Harlan thinks that 2023 was Whitt's best in the forum Football 10 months ago
This is Whitt’s Achilles Heel. He can’t recruit HS QB’s. I don’t know what it is. If he can’t get them interested in Utah’s scheme or what. But outside of Huntley, he’s been terrible.
He can get solid transfer QB’s, and I guess that is where he needs to butter his bread (which he has done). The problem with this route, is you can never get a HS…[Read more]

Ha ha. I don’t think that’s what I’m saying…I’m just saying it was more important to keep Rising than to win 10 games with a transfer QB and have Rising leave.
But damn, we should have beaten Northwestern and ended up with 9 wins and ranked. Shit.

Utah replied to the topic Harlan thinks that 2023 was Whitt's best in the forum Football 10 months ago
Last year was…messed up. The injuries, Rising, etc. Whitt was in a tough place, because if you can hold onto Rising…2024 your schedule is exponentially easier. Your toughest game is versus Oklahoma State and they lost to a Sun Belt team last year. There is no Oregon, Washington, USC on the schedule.
With Rising you are favored to win the…[Read more]

I don’t think Petersen comes back to college football. That being said, when Whitt retires, Petersen should be our first call.
I’d take him over Scalley. I don’t care how loyal Scalley has been. If Petersen isn’t interested, then I’m ok with Scalley.
But we are the perfect program for Petersen. If he was to return anywhere, we would be the…[Read more]

Utah replied to the topic Harbaugh to the NFL – Chargers in the forum Football 10 months ago
My counter argument would be this: Look at Whitt’s recruiting at Utah: It is amazing for Utah, but it sucks for Michigan.
I’ve always said if USC hired Whitt, he would replicate Pete Carroll’s success. They are the same coach. Whitt would thrive in Michigan. When Rising was not hurt, he took it to Ohio State and Penn St. Hell, even without…[Read more]

Rivals: BYU, Arizona, ASU. You’d think Colorado would be here as well…but they suck. They went 1-8 in the PAC-12 last year. They will be better this year because the Big 12 is a worse conference, but not that much better. They might get to 6 wins, Sanders will go pro and I bet Deion bails and Colorao goes back to sucking. If we haven’t created a…[Read more]

There is a less than 1% chance he is back. He and Sirianni were absolutely awful last year.

Utah replied to the topic Did B Johnson get let go from the Eagles? in the forum Football 10 months, 1 week ago
That was an incredibly stupid decision as well.
But that doesn’t vindicate BJ. His QB was runner up MVP last year. He has AJ Brown, one of the of best WR’s in the NFL. He has Smith at the other WR spot. Julio Jones is WR #3. Goedert is a top 5, maybe top 3 TE. If not the best OL, top 3 OL. Oh, and Swift at RB.
The Eagles started 11-1. And they…[Read more]

I agree there. Sundays I wear Eagles. Saturdays is my Utes.
If there’s a big Phillies/Sixers game, I’ll wear that, but every other day of the week is normal clothes.

their favorite team.
There is a post on cougarboard about a guy whose kid is singing at the U sometime and he wants to know if he should wear black because…I don’t know. Stupid reasons.
This gatekeeping is fucking weird. I’m an Utah fan. If I go to an Ohio State game, where I am from, I wear my Utah shirt. Utah is MY school. It’s no…[Read more]

He hasn’t been fired…yet. He is interviewing for HC jobs.
That being said, he will be fired. He was awful. Just awful. They only ran about five plays the whole season. He had arguably more talent than anyone and was just awful. It was no different than the offense he ran at Utah. Just awful.
Sirianni may or may not get fired (I hope he does)…[Read more]

Utah replied to the topic Arizona hires Brent Brennan: San Jose State coach in the forum Football 10 months, 1 week ago
He won the MWC? I guess he did the COVID year. I don’t know how much I’d rely on that. Outside of that, he’s incredibly mediocre.
Yeah, it’s hard to win at SJSU. But it ain’t the P12 or ACC. It’s not that hard to win there. And he’s never won over 7 games.
I’m not too impressed with this hire.

I wonder what Shah’s goals are. If he just wants to coach at Utah, make a shit ton of money and win, then I wonder if you could make him an AHC and special teams coordinator/CB coach and then make Swan DC.
I don’t know if Shah would want that, but its an idea.

Man oh man. I’m an Eagles fan. I personally witnessed an excellent OC (Steichen) lead my favorite team to greatness and leave…then watched their replacements (Sirianni/Brian Johnson) royally fuck up a team. I’m shocked at how bad those two have been. I freaking love Brian Johnson the Ute, but BJ the OC? He’s been the OC of two of my teams so far…[Read more]

If Scalley could get Ludwig to stay one more year after Whitt retires…that might be perfect. Although it wouldn’t shock me if Harding gets the OC job again when Whitt/Ludwig leave.
I think the biggest issue with Utah coaches is how will they handle losing Colton Swan. After we are in the playoffs next year he will be a hot commodity. Dude can…[Read more]
