I agree that it was ultimately coaching, but I don’t think the playcalling was bad, we just didn’t/don’t have a QB who was able to execute. Soooo many poorly thrown balls tonight. We moved it decently even though our QB was a wounded statue. The playcall doe the TD that got called back for DPI sas great, too. On a lot of this, Cam just couldn’t get the ball close to where it needed to be.
Our D had issues with over pursuit and frankly just missing a lot of tackles, but the calls looked ok. The coaches have failed to develop enough depth and grit on the execution side of the ball. We had way more chances than we deserved tonight to still win, but our execution was terrible… Again.

Yes, and I think we will and will get better, but this year feels a lot like ’07 where things just don’t line up right. I think if we don’t lose the team, we rally and win 4-5 more games, but we definitely don’t get the season we had been hoping for or expecting. I strangely still think we will beat BYU. We just are just out of BXII contention, which sucks, unless craziness happens.

Thanks for all the work you do on this site, Tony! I think Venmo makes it pretty easy. Maybe both a gofundme (for those who don’t already have Venmo set up) and have a Venmo option and just let people know which one you prefer.

We seem to bring our the best in our opponents. It doesn’t look like bad D in realtime, but teams sure do seem to execute us. This TCU game has been painful on both sides, too.

Agreed. The issues didn’t look like Xs and Os to me, it was that this team doesn’t look right in terms of execution and discipline. We have injuries, sure, and that is hurting us, but this team doesn’t look prepared for a second year in a row, and 2 years in a row is no longer just freak bad luck.

Have you not seen most of these teams play? You think UCF has a functioning QB room? TCU jas an Ok QB, but the team isn’t good at all. Iowa St and CU are the only 2 teams left on our schedule with what I would consider healthy/good QB situations (though Hoover is pretty good as a player, TCU is a bigger tire fire than us). Our schedule isn’t very good, and I do think we will get a bit better as the season goes on based on natural progression with Wilson. This team currently reminds me of 07 or 2017, or last year. not great, but there are plenty of good pieces, and we play a lot of just ok teams, too. That is where I see us getting 4 more wins.

Yeah, I have seen the schedule, and there isn’t a game that should be scary, but we obviously aren’t as good as we thought, either, so there are also no gimmes. I see TCU and Houston as both likely wins. I see BYU as a pretty strong possibility, too. UCF and CU are also both possible wins. Iowa St is less likely, but it isn’t out of the question. There is not a single game where I think we are clearly out of it, but by the same token, we could easily lose 4 more games, too. I think we are better than we have looked, and getting Karene and O’Toole back will help a lot. I will pick us to win the next 2 as well as BYU and UCF for the 4 I think we win. CU is also a very winnable game. Realistically, we won’t magically improve, so I don’t think we look great, but I will put is at 8-4 at the end of the year based on where we are, which is a huge disappointment. It isn’t that I think we are great, it is that I know the rest of the teams we play aren’t great either. We haven’t been outclassed in any games, but we have definitely been outplayed in the last 2.

Honestly, probably to 6 or 7, but sigh. The silver lining with SMU playing well and Iowa St still winning is that we have a few games that could be marquee type game. Hell, if they haven’t lost more than 1, maybe even a game day or big noon for the holy war would be possible (or foe the Iowa St game if the same is true.

Yeah, and if we can turn things around from last week, we have a road ahead that now has a lot of opportunity. BYU may still be ranked by the time we play them, Iowa St is stringing together wins, too. With all the cannibalism across conferences, IF (and it’s a big if) we were to get to 11-1, our schedule probably ends up looking a little better than expected, and we would likely have a chance to make the playoff even with a CCG loss (but hopefully, if we get there, we just win to take the drama out of it). There is plenty ahead of us if we can get things rolling. Hoping it works out for us.

Agreed, but we have been winning without 3 of our top players. My comments on us being favored by 10+ most of the rest of the way are based on us as having our core healthy on O and D. We could lose any given week, I just think that if we get all our key players back and stay healthy we are the fastest car on the track by a fair bit.
