  • I heard from someone last night that the coaching staff wants to get Wilson as many practice reps as possible throughout the season. The best way to do this outside of being the starter is to have him run the scout team. Of course, everyone wants Rising to stay healthy and start every game. That means he will get 80% of the reps in practice…[Read more]

I find this interesting because we don’t seem to have a lot of depth at LB and we have a big RB room. I understand that our two starting linebackers are excellent, and Fotu and Reynolds show promise. Still, I would have thought we needed him more on defense.

It sounds like we need a guy that can get those tough yards in short-yardage…[Read more]

  • Interesting, especially at QB. Does this mean that they just want to redshirt Wilson?

It is also interesting that Alford didn’t make your top 3 receivers. But, a team will typically utilize 5-6 WRs.

OnlyU, Ar you sticking with your prediction that we become more of a passing team?

  • CC, I agree with you. When we get a lead, Whitt will slow things down and just try keep the football and run the clock out. So, yes, the stats in the end will likely show that we run a bit more than pass (assuming we get big leads). However, when the game is in question, I suspect we will pass more than Whitt has ever done.

  • I understand that Whitt is very secretive and I understand why (kind of). But, as a fan of the Utes – I want to know more. But, we get virtually nothing. Whitt tells his assistants to be very vague. I can get a better update by asking AI.

I listened to a handful of interviews from coaches and players this morning. I got virtually nothing.…[Read more]

  • The PAC 12 would still be alive today had the commissioner been proactive after the USC/UCLA announcement. The Big 12 commissioner took immediate action when Texas/Oklahoma announced they were leaving. This action kept the Big 12 alive.

What could the PAC12 done? They could have invited SMU and SDSU within a month of the USC/UCLA announcement.…[Read more]

  • Death, taxes and Utah football,” Klatt wrote. “This is my pick to win the Big 12. Utah is really good, really tough, and I know the Big 12 teams are not going to want to hear this, but Salt Lake City is now the toughest place to play in the Big 12. Period. That home-field advantage is real; the Utes are incredible at home. And when healthy, thi…

  • How many points will Utah score and give up per game in 2024?

The best in recent years was in 2022 when we scored 38 points per game and in 2019 when we only gave up 15 points per game. So, what do you expect in 2024?

OnlyU and others have told us we will pass much more this season. This should lead to more points on offense. On the other…[Read more]

Top ten receiver group? That would be a first for the Utes.

We are deep. If Cam stays healthy – we should be great.

    Go Utes!!!

  • The Big 12, including the Utes, have to prove themselves. In a perfect world – an undefeated Utah team will play and undefeated KState team for the conference championship. If that ends up being true (not likely) – The Big 12 will have two teams in the top five.

  • I don’t know Massey from Adam. He may be an idiot, but he is not an idiot because he ranked Utah lower that we think they should be.

The CB started calling anyone idiots who trashed Zach Wilson last season. They went as far as saying that Joe Namath was a terrible NFL QB just because he said Wilson was playing badly and should be benched.

    I…[Read more]

  • Honestly, why should we care about BYU. I just want Utah to win.

    Go Utes!!!

  • The hatred from CB BYU fans has blown out of proportion. Since they have lost 9 out of the last 10 football games, they like to post crazy things about their rivals. A few from this last week include:

    – Whittingham is not in the same league as Edwards. Lavell will always be the best coach from the state of Utah. (This may be true, but it is…[Read more]

  • I believe we will start the season with running back by committee. However, I would not be surprised that by week 4 one of the guys emerges as RB1. We saw this with Tavion in 2021. Regardless, Bernard will be in the mix because of his experience and his skills as a receiver.

  • 1st poll

I think 13th is fair for where I believe we are at. We are just ahead of Clemson, Tennessee, and Oklahoma. We are just behind Fl State, Missouri, and LSU. That’s pretty good company.

Considering how we ended last season, I am a bit surprised the coaches had us so high. I doubt most of them understand the level of injuries we had…[Read more]

  • We are 24 days from our first game. Let’s start some football discussions.

Question of the day – Who will be our leading receiver?

I predict that Kuithe will lead in catches and Singer will be the leader in total yards. I think Kuithe will have about 60 receptions and Singer will have 800+ total receiving yards. (It would be nice to have a…[Read more]

  • I heard both Rising and Kuithe talk about him. Can you imagine the weapon he can be at 6’8″ with his jumping ability? I am not suggesting that he will be an every-down player. But, in special circumstances – he may be the go-to guy.

I look forward to seeing him on the field this fall.

    Go Utes!!!

  • Great post. The PAC12 was great for the Utes. But, we are where we are. I hope we make the most of it until another opportunity comes our way.

  • I got the Disney/Hulu/ESPN+ and more this week. It’s not expensive and as it turns out I get a lot of other unexpected options.

The SUU game is on ESPN+. The USU and Baylor games are being picked up by the networks. I suspect every conference game will be on Fox, ESPN, ABC, or at the very least something like FSN or CBSN.

The Big 12 is a…[Read more]

    Great post, UtesRule.

Yes, we are loaded at both positions and have a quarterback who can get them the ball. Will we average 300 yards passing this season? Maybe. But if we blow some teams out, we will call off the dogs, so who knows?
