ProudUte started the topic Worst nightmare of my life in the forum They So Poo Poo 1 week, 4 days ago
I have been retired for many years, yet I often dream about work, but this dream was horrific. I came to work on a Monday following a Utah/BYU football game. Everyone was wearing BYU shirts and giving me crap because Utah lost to BYU for he third straight time. It was like being in a room of relentless CB posters.
I have never had a worse nightmare.

You are always welcome here. I have always enjoyed your posts because they are honest and based on facts. Sometimes, this may make BYU look better than Utah, but that’s okay.
Previously, I would go to CB fairly often. Now, I do not go there. Some on that board are so full of hate that it just makes you feel dirty. I have said it before, and…[Read more]

Afernee, I agree with you on our 025 tight ends. Andrews could be a stud, and King is a solid player.
But, I have a question for you: What makes you optimistic about 2025? I want to be optimistic, but I am very concerned about our D with graduation and the portal. Our offense should be better, but we were terrible, so that isn’t saying a lot.…[Read more]

I don’t care if it is related to money or not. I think this is a direct result of how terrible our team looked last season (terrible may understating on offense). I hate it, but BYU played well last season. They looked like they were having fun. We stunk and we looked like we were miseraable.
I love Utah football and we better dig out of this…[Read more]

It looks like you became a fan in the late 70s / early 80s. Your list is comprehensive. Nothing to disagree with.
Here are a couple of players who I loved to watch who were before your time:
Mike Newlin – He was a stud who had a long NBA career. I think he led the nation in free throw shooting percentage.
Merv Jackson – He was a sophomore on…[Read more] -

I was there at the NC game. We lost by 5. NC played four corners for the last 5 minutes of the game. There was no shot clock in those days. If I remember correctly, Chambers got in early foul trouble.

I enjoyed that team as well.

Doleac and Miller were not highly recruited out of high school. Drew Hansen was not really recruited at all. Jensen was a local hero but had little national attention. Jensen had recently returned from a mission in 1998. Mattola was from Finland.
Yes, Miller and Doleac had nice NBA careers. But, I believe it was because of how hard they…[Read more]

I remember the 1974 team well. It was a great team which improved throughout the season. Sojourner won the NIT MVp award even though we lost to Purdue. HAd Spojourenr stayed, the 1975 team would have been one of the top teams in the country.

I got thinking today about my favorite Utah basketball teams. Here are mine in chronological order:
1965/66 – They went to the Final Four. The starters were Jerry Chambers, Tate, Merv Jackson, Lyndon McKay, and George Fisher. Chambers won the Final Four MVP.
1980/81 – They lost in the Sweet 16 to a loaded North Carolina team. The starters…[Read more]

ProudUte started the topic This BYU championship really hurts in the forum They So Poo Poo 2 weeks, 2 days ago
BYU just won their tenth landscaping championship. Heck, we have never even made it to the sweet sixteen.
There is no way we can compete with all the NIL money they get from IFA, Scots, Tru Green, Home Depot, etc. On top of that, our best riding lawn mower guy left via the portal to Provo. It’s a bad day for the Utah Landscaping team.
Yes,…[Read more]

Nice article about Nate Johnson. Some on here have wondered if Nate can be productive in this role. I love it. I loved it when Weddle and Vaki did it. I like to watch Taysom Hill and everything he can do. I get it that Johnson is not Weddle, very few are. But, he could be a nice addition to the offense this fall.

I am sure that he is compensated nicely by Utah donors. He just didn’t go looking for a better offer after the 2024 season. I appreciate his loyalty.

Lander’s sister was on the radio on Tuesday. It was an entertaining interview. She was an AA volleyball player at the U. She said that her little brother had plenty of lucrative NIL offers and chose not to take them. OC then added that he offered Lander a weekly NIL radio interview which Lander declined to take even though it was easy money.…[Read more]

ProudUte started the topic Nice article on tight ends in the forum Football 2 weeks, 4 days ago
Sounds like Beck will utilize the tight ends more than he did at UNM. King will be in the mix, and it sounds like Andrews is standing out.
One thing I was happy to read is that the feeling in the locker room is upbeat in spite of last season’s total debacle.

He can do this because of the coaching change. Utah was recruiting this kid hard last fall. We could use another LB. I assume Whitt and Scalley are on this. I read that BYU really wants this kid.

ProudUte replied to the topic I heard that BYU's basketball team is one if the highest paid in America in the forum They So Poo Poo 3 weeks, 3 days ago
I don’t care bout BYU unless it affects us. My point is that we compete with BYU off the court for many things, like:
Donors (this is huge; we need John Hunstman Jr. to step up like his dad did.)
Fans (When Utah was on top of the world in 1998, many fans who were on the fence, became Utah fans. We need butts in the seats.)
TV time (In football…[Read more] -

BYU is a private school and will not dislose anything.
I find this all interesting since the church authorities said they would not get involved in pay-to-play when NIL came out. I guess if a few rich billionaires pay the bill – they don’t have a problem with it. The only thing I know for sure is that the top recruit in the country that will…[Read more]

I agree, but we need to be MUCH better in 2025 if we want to compete. A lot of it is on the Oline IMO.
