I want to get the best possible QB in the portal. But, with Rising being our starter, it seems like it will be difficult to find any 4-star caliber kids who would be willing to make that change.

He led Skyridge to the 6A state football championship in 2022. Utah State recruited him. He got to start for a few games as a true freshman and did not do badly until he got injured. I loved watching him in high school. He made things happen. He was an amazing runner.

They put us in the Plains Division, which seems a bit odd. I doubt this will be what we see. But, if it means that Utah remains with the big boys – I would take it. In the end – I suspect that the 7 division winners would make a playoff along with 9 at-large invitations.

I would like to take this over from our current situation.

For me – I think this season depends mostly on Cam Rising’s health and ability to do what he does best. Cam may not need to run as much as he has in the past, but he needs to be a threat to run. He is at his best when he can run and keep the defense honest.

I thought that he was very good watching him play last season at Corner Canyon. He is a baller, very competitive, smart and athletic. I have no idea when his surgery will take place. It seems to me that any portal guys we pick up this late will not likely be starters this season. We, of course are looking for a QB and you know he will not be a starter unless there are injuries. I “think” that any portal guys we pick up will be for depth at this point. It would be hard to come in this summer and become a starter.

I doubt they would risk him practicing right now. However, everything I hear (including family) is that he is ready to play and is planning on playing in 2024.

Cam Rising and Kincaid were studs in that game. (Kuithe had just been injured two weeks previous.) Cam led us down the field for the final TD and made a beautiful play for the two-point conversion. Cam Rising is a difference maker, and I think Kuithe will be again.

I am excited for the 2024 football season!

I think we will be fine at tight end and receiver. I am not sure about the offensive line. We may be okay, but it seems to take 4-6 weeks into the season before the offensive line is hitting on all cylinders.
