Interesting article on how spring practice is progressing. A couple of points:
– Rising is looking great
– Close race for QB2. Wildon has done a great job of learning the offense.
– Pitman looks like the best WR in practice.
– Bernard appears to be RB1.

Yeah, tough to gloat when it comes to basketball. It’s like how they gloated when we lost to Ohio State in the Rose Bowl when they lost to UAB in the Independence Bowl. That’s a bit out there and complicated, although I would take it.
My hope now is that Utah ends up in a two-conference (football-only) power league (likely Big 10). I actually hope that all other sports go back to regional conferences. I hope that the PAC 12 comes back as a sports conference for all sports except football. The travel issues…[Read more]

I think the Red Rocks may be in the black. Basketball is in trouble. I am not sure what needs to be done other than getting a better team. Competing with the Jazz is also a problem.

Great article. It seems to me that Barton will be playing in 2024 in spite of rumors that he would not be able to play because of his injury.
We are loaded at LB and have a solid front 4. I think we will be okay at safety with a number of potential starters. The biggest concern on defense is corner. But we may be okay if guys like Snowden and…[Read more]

UteBacker, you are spot on. Both teams have good fans, and both have bad fans. I have a relationship with many BYU fans. I just get a kick out of the CB and their disdain for everything Utah.

Isaac Wilson winning the Heisman would do it. But, I think it could happen sooner if Utah wins the Big 12 in season 1.
If the powers that be created two super conferences and Utah is in and BYU is out, they would totally lose it.
However, I have to admit – BYU’s basketball program is in much better shape than we are.

It’s nice to hear what Scalley and Ludwig think about the 2024 Utes.
Sounds like Ludwig likes what he sees from Isaac Wilson. I keep seeing Mike Mitchell getting lots of props. It will be interesting to see how many carries he gets.

That was a great game. Everything started to go right for the Utes. A defensive lineman (can’t remember his name) had a pick-6 in that game. Scott Mitchell threw for 390 yards. Utah was in FG range at the end of the game. Some Utes thought we should have kicked a FG so we could have over 60 points.

– Sounds like Isaac Wilson is getting some reps. I guess he has not yet had surgery.
– Luke Bottari is still on the team. I thought his eligibility was up.
– Newcomers – Mike Mitchell and Dorian Singer are looking good.
– Fano is being moved to right tackle.

I don’t disagree. However, the family member I talked to said that he could have played in the bowl game and he and his family decided against it, because the risk was not worth it. Basically, I was told that he was good to go.

I heard this too. I heard in early January from a family member that he was good to go. However, someone on this board posted that they had heard that he might not play. So, I wondered if there were some setbacks.

There are too many answers. Mine include:
1 – Cam Rising is back to 100% and stays healthy.
2 – Our offensive line improves.
3 – Our running backs can average 180+ yards per game.
4 – Our wide receivers can get open.
5 – Barton is healthy and ready to play.
6 – Our defensive backs do a better job in pass coverage.
