We are seeing many players leaving the programs that had their coach leave, i.e., Oregon State, Arizona, UW, etc. Can the Utes avoid this when Whitt decides to retire? I believe the answer is yes if we handle things right.

He did say that the best comparison would be Yassmin. He said Ryan will be nothing like Kuithe. He made it clear that he was not comparing Ryan to Kincaid in athletic ability.

– Rising, Kuithe, and Barton are good to go and should be 100% for spring ball.

Wow, our passing offense could be amazing if our Oline can protect Cam.

Cam will have the following guys he can pass to:

– Kuithe – All-conference caliber receiver/tight end
– Pittman – (If healthy – he could be a deep ball threat.
– Money Parks – Solic WR who knows our system.

Players cannot enter the portal now until this spring. How will this affect UW players transferring to Bama and Arizona players transferring to UW?

I think this is a fair assessment. However, we do have three starters coming back and another two who have started. We also have a 4-star tackle from the 2023 class and another four-star tackle from the 2024 class. I suspect it will take a few games for these guys to get it figured out, but I am hopeful they will.

It is way too early because we have not had spring practice yet and we know there will be more guys entering the portal and coming in from the portal before practice starts in late July. But, I love Utah football …

Arizona had a very good year. They were 3-4 plays from being undefeated. They were creative on defense against USC and UW. Once Fifita came in their offense turned around. Fifita may be small but he proved himself against very good teams.

Utah is getting a lot of 2024 love (probably more than we deserve). But, I find it interesting that so many 2024 projections include our Utes. This projection has us winning the Big 12 in 2024. Great educational opportunity. What surprises me is that Cal will not transfer any credits from Utah. This is a problem for Cal and Stanford. Maybe Cal has loosened up a bit.

From the 2023 roster we have:
– 6 players with no more eligibility left
– 5 underclassmen declaring for the NFL draft
– 16 players who entered the portal
This means we have at least 27 scholarship players who will not be on the 2024 roster.

Who do we have coming in:
– So far 7 players are coming to Utah via the portal

I understand that his injury was to his foot. It was not a major knee or shoulder injury. Everyone gets injured in football. He does not have a history of any major injuries as far as I know.

I talked to a close family member today and he said Lander is ready to play. He could have played in the bowl game. But, the family and coaches did not want to take the risk.

He also said (no surprise) that Lander will be leaving for the NFL next year at this time.

I hope Barton has an All-American season in 2024 and ends up a first-round draft pick.
