  • Tough to assess a game against an inferior opponent, but this is what I saw:

    – The score was very good. Our first-half offense was great.
    – Stanley was the player of the game and certainly the biggest surprise.
    – Kuithe is BACK!!!
    – Rising looked good, not great. He is not afraid to take a hit. I am sure the coaches will be talking to him…[Read more]

  • I remember Alex Smith’s first series in college. He threw a pick-6. Look how things turned out.

All good choices. I think it would be fun to see Lohner be an unexpected surprise. But, in the end I don’t care who the playmakers are, I just want playmakers on both sides who make a difference.

  • As mentioned in a previous post, injuries could change the direction of this season. We all lived through the 2023 season. However, I have to believe that it was an anomaly. Some of our best seasons came after a season with a ton of injuries. 1994 comes to mind. We had a lot of key injuries in 1993 and ended up in the top ten in 1994.

    It…[Read more]

    I support your gut!!!

  • Thanks. Forgot about him.

  • we have been to four NY6 bowls and won two.

Only seven teams have been in the CFP t=ranking more than the Utes

We played in 4 of the last 6 Pac 12 conference championships.

Whitt is the second longest tenured head coach.

We have been on GameDay 5-6 times.

We had 50K show up at the Rose Bowl and Fiesta Bowl.

19k fans showed up in Gainsville…[Read more]

  • Mikey Matthews is listed as a starting WR for Cal
Jackson is listed as RB1 for Arkansas
Johnson is listed as QB2 for Vanderbilt
Barnes is listed as QB2 for USU
Broughton is listed as a starting CB for TCU
Chase Kennedy listed as a backup D end for Arizona
I did not see Medlock listed

I can’t remember any other key players who transferred out.…[Read more]

  • I second that. Tony – you are the man!!!

  • Good for Covey. He is a great young man. He really wants to coach. I hope he ends up here when he hangs up his cleats.

  • I can’t argue with Utah having two losses and they may be to the two teams you mentioned. However, I think the Big12 is going to beat up on each other much like the PAC12 did. (Last season was the only time a PAC12 team was unscathed in conference play.)

I think two losses will get us into the conference championship.

    Of course, injuries to…[Read more]

  • If we stay ranked, I suspect that tomorrow’s game may be our only ESPN+ game. Four other games are already on the TV schedule; Baylor, USU, ASU, and UCF. That leaves seven games not yet scheduled. They are all P4 conference games. Again, as long as we stay good – I believe we will be picked up by ESPN, ESPN2, ESPNU, Fox, FS1, etc.

    I got ESPN+…[Read more]

  • Patrick was cur by Denver but expected to be added to the Lions practice squad

Cole Fotheringham cut by the Raiders

    Sewell cut by the Bills

Jackson Barton cut by the Cardinals

    Nacua cut by the Saints

    Guidry cut by the Lions

    Yassmin cut by the Broncos

I don’t think there are any big surprises outside of Patrick, but he will land somewhere.…[Read more]

  • Smart thing to do because December is portal month and many teams including the Utes have lost a lot of players in December. You need the freshman to play.

If we make the playoffs this season, it will be interesting to see if we have kids leave for the portal before the playoff game.

  • I hate the December window because it hurts bowl game prep and makes the bowl games almost worthless. But, I understand that it needs to stay. Why? Kids transferring want to get enrolled in time for the new semester, so they can participate in spring camp.

So, I guess the next best thing is to get rid of the spring portal window. The coaching…[Read more]

  • Top ten wins

Do you agree with this list?

I certainly agree with number 1 on the list and probably number 2. I would have probably had the 2008 Oregon State game on the list.

One interesting thing of note – there are no BYU games on the list. 🙂

  • ProudUte replied to the topic 1280's 60 in 60 in the forum Football 1 week, 4 days ago

Worst 60 in 60 that I can remember. I know it is just local media guys voting on what they think. Name recognition is the biggest factor. For example, Fillinger is our highest rated D-end. I think he will be good but probably third on our team. Singer being rated 21 is nonsense, but portal guys rarely rank high in this poll. The top three…[Read more]

  • That game was for the conference championship against USC in December 2022. I fast forwarded and only watched the offensive plays. Here are a few things that stood out to me.

    1. The drive just before half where we scored a TD to tie the game was masterful by Cam. It was really the only time in the game where Cam passed to an injured Kincaid.…[Read more]

  • Harlan announced that the athletic department will be hiring a Chief Revenue Officer. He/she will be looking for every opportunity to increase revenue and work with the Collective on NIL money. This allows the coaches to coach. I am glad that Whitt will not need to worry about NIL. We already have a GM of football and now we will have a revenue…[Read more]

  • Whitt interview notes:

We have some added excitement with Rising and Kuithe coming back.

You can feel a team coming together in spring ball. QB is critical. He can’t wait to get these guys on the field. We have a good group that is excited to get on the field.

With the new rule which allows more coaches, we can get more reps during the…[Read more]
