This bowl game has the making of being a disaster for the Utes. Between, the NFL draft guys, portal guys, and our numerous injuries – who will play on December 23rd?

Keep in mind teams like Oklahoma and Ohio State have lost star QBs to the portal. We need to wait this thing out and see what we lose and what we get. I thought Broughton was leaving, so that’s not a huge loss IMO. Matthews leaving was an unpleasant surprise.

I am sure Whitt and the staff are working the portal as well

That makes a lot of sense. I can see college football programs hiring a general manager so the coach can focus on coaching.

This whole thing is getting out of hand. I was not a fan of Phillips sitting out the Rosel Bowl. I get that players would sit out the Sun or Vegas Bowls. But, when you are playing for the national championship – come on – that’s crazy.

It seems so strange to me to leave a prestigious school like Virginia to end up at UNM. Oh well, he is a different guy.

It’s probably our lowest number of players on the 1st/2nd teams in years. It makes sense considering the injuries we experienced this season.

I am certain Barton would have been on the list had he not been injured.

I just think Bishop should have been first team. Outside of that, I don’t see much that I disagree with.

I read up a bit on Sam. He was a highly recruited QB last year. He was ranked the 78th best recruit in the 2923 class.

His dad and brother played at BYU. Does BYU have the inside track for this kid? He could start at BYU next season. That’s not happening at Utah.

Mack Howard has also put his name in the portal. This is not a huge loss, but we will need to do something to get some QB in here. We have Rising, Rose, and Wilson. All three are coming off injuries.

12 of the 13 highest ranked teams are from the SEC and the Big10. The new Big13 needs to step it up in football.

Some teams in our new conference have a strong football tradition; i.e., TCU, KState, Baylor, etc. Arizona is headed in the right direction.
