  • The biggest recruiting miss was OJ Simpson. Forget about his life post-NFL. He was one of the greatest college running backs ever. He visited Utah after JC but USC came in last minute and swooped him away.

Maybe if he had played at Utah, his later life would have been different.

  • I agree. We need at least three good drives with scores. Hopefully, our D will add one more.

    Go Utes!!!

  • ProudUte replied to the topic Cal depth chart in the forum Football 1 year, 1 month ago

Our depth charts this season are virtually meaningless. I bet at least 8 of the players on the two-deep do not play this Saturday. I am not sure why we even submit a depth chart.

  • Whitt said last night that Randle is now getting some reps at RB. I am not sure if he will get any playing time, but if someone else goes down – he will have to play.

  • Let’s drop all the speculation as to what WHitt knew about Rising and Kuithe and when he knew it. None of us know the truth and we will likely never know.

If Whitt somehow gets the offense rolling (without Cam & Kuithe) and wins 5 of the next 7 games, I would say that this may be Whitt’s best coaching year ever. If you can overcome 20+ injuries…[Read more]

I agree that this is a frustrating season. All of the games have been weird. Thankfully, we have a very good defense which has led us to a 4-1 season. Some, suggest that we should all be happy that we are 4-1. It’s all about the ineptness we see on offense. The OSU game was the final straw.

This season is also weird and frustrating because…[Read more]

I think that everyone is getting a little upset because of our pathetic offensive effort. We (me included) all need to settle down and realize that it’s just football. Be happy that you are not living in Israel right now.

You could add Rose to that list.

  • ProudUte replied to the topic Furlong speaking truth in the forum Football 1 year, 1 month ago

The bad news about all of this – is that other teams (when recruiting) are saying that Whitt handled this terribly and are suggesting that he really does not care about his players.

If I was Whitt – I would come out and make a clear statement as to what happened this spring and summer. But, this is NOT Whitt’s style. He is what he is and no…[Read more]

  • ElAttrache was given permission by Rising to speak to The Athletic to expand on the surgery, the rehab and where Utah’s quarterback is in the process of this tedious recovery. ElAttrache said Rising’s multi-ligament injury plus the meniscus tear usually takes top-flight athletes anywhere from 10 to 12 months to return to competition. So far, Ris…[Read more]

  • ProudUte replied to the topic Whitt's presser in the forum Football 1 year, 1 month ago

Whitt did not sound positive about the injuries. But, you cannot take anything he says about injuries seriously. Not a word was said about the potential of Jackson playing this week. His biggest statement about injuries related to the need to shuffle around our offensive line this weekend. However, he then went on to say that we will know more…[Read more]

Let me make it clear that I am still glad that Whitt is our head coach. However, I am so sick and tired of his games, secrecy, and avoiding any serious questions.

You disagree with a coach and still like him overall.

  • ProudUte started the topic Whitt's presser in the forum Football 1 year, 1 month ago

I am not sure I believe much of what he says anymore, but here are his responses:

We are coming up on the halfway point of the season. Both teams coming off losses to OSU.

Cal is much improved on offense. They are balanced between the run and pass.

    He likes the daytime games.

Will be shocked if any team goes undefeated in conference…[Read more]

  • I agree that a young QB playing against our D with a loud and hostile crowd – will be a challenge. However, he played much better than okay. He led his team to 40 points against a team that held us to 7. I was impressed with him and how he kept his cool under pressure.

  • As of this morning, Utah is a 13.5 point favorite this Saturday (also seems high). The over/under is 45.5. This suggests a score of about 29-16. I think we can keep Cal to 16 or fewer points, but can the Utes score 29? We have only done that once against Weber and they are not a good team this year.

    I am not a gambler, but if I was I would…[Read more]

  • ProudUte replied to the topic Transfer Portal QB in the forum Football 1 year, 1 month ago

Right now, I would not come to Utah as a transfer QB. Our offense is terrible.

Somehow, someway – I hope that we can change things.

  • I think you ask a valid question. But, I do not believe it is Whitt or Scalley’s style to make wholesale changes like that. They both seem to me to play hard-core, old-school football and win in the trenches. They may do some things similar to Arizona in obvious passing downs.

I admit, I like what I saw with Arizona’s defense. They made the…[Read more]

  • Two PAC12 backup freshmen QBs had great games yesterday. Fefita from Arizona and Mendoza from Cal looked great. It was the 2nd game for Fefita, but he looked good against UQ the previous week. I think what bothered me the most was that Mendoza led Cal to 40 points against the same Oregon State defense that basically shut us out until the game…[Read more]

  • UCLA beat a very good WSU team and the score doesn’t really show how they dominated. They held WSU to about 215 yards total offense and UCLA got almost 500 yards offense against WSU. UCLA rushed for 192 yards compared to the 9 they rushed against the Utes.

Unfortunately, none of this makes up for the debacle at OSU.

    Hopefully, our offense…[Read more]

  • We all know that we have an elite defense. Could we be even better in 2024? The only senior starter is Broughton. He is the only player that we know won’t be back next season. There is a possibility of one or more players leaving for the NFL. I suspect Bishop is most likely, but I wouldn’t say that is a sure thing. Ried is a possibility as…[Read more]
