We have former Ute players in all the NFL position groups.
Kicker
Punter
Returner
QB
Receiver
Tight End
Offensive line
Defensive line
Linbacker
Corner
SafetyAre we the only college team that has a player in each of these position groups?

Whitt said that he is likely too far behind right now to see any playing time this season.

Honestly, my concern is our inability to develop new QB talent. Maybe we should hire a QB whisperer. If I am not mistaken, Ludwig acts as the QB coach. Could we find a QB coach who can focus exclusively on the QBs and their development? Just a thought.

I am glad that Whitt is our coach. He has developed Utah football into a national brand. But, I gave up trying to understand exactly what he thinks. One thing I do know – is that he has no use for style points. This can bother some fans because they want their team to look good while winning. Oh well, Kyle does not care.

Ellis is a stud, much like his dad. I remember when Mac got Luther to come here, he said, “We have a very special player in Ellis … He will play in the NFL.”

I never claimed to know what is best. I specifically said that I want Scalley to be our next head coach. You are creating contention when none was intended. We as fans have the right to disagree with a coach. I would never suggest that I know better than Morgan Scalley when it comes to football. It is an observation and something many fans,…[Read more]

I have one issue that has caught up with us from time to time. Scalley waits to the very last moment to call the defense and all of the players are looking to the sideline. Opposing coaches know this and try to catch us off-guard occasionally.
The play in the first half when UCLA dropped the pass at the goal line was one of those occasions.…[Read more]

I endorse this post. We may have a bigger RB problem. We need to see what these freshmen can do.

I’m not sure it is a good idea to question how a fan chooses to be a fan. We all have issues with the offense and we like/need to vent. Heck, Whitt has problems with the offense and I am sure he vents (probably to Meyer, Andersen, and other ex-coaching buddies).
Booing is never good IMO and this goes for booing the opposing team unless they…[Read more]

Two really good defenses went at it on Saturday. There are different games to win a game and this one was a defensive game. We got off to a great start with the pick-6.
The offense was not great. We are working on rectifying things.
Special teams did well, especially the punting.
We did not fare so well at OSU last time. We will get…[Read more]

I’m with you Duke. Johnson needs reps big time. This is a tough one for the coaching staff.

I did not agree with you on bringing in a portal QB because I wanted to develop one of our young guys. But, that is just one old guy’s opinion.
I respect your posts and opinions. I would never throw anyone under the bus for a different opinion.
I love UteHub and appreciate what Tony has developed and for the most part, the angry, petty fans…[Read more]

Sorry, I should have clarified that it was for UCLA. Sorry, I did not see your post.
In any event, Scalley has had his nimber except for last season which was a defensive disaster.

I saw yesterday that Chip Kelly’s offense has been held to ten or fewer points three times. All three have been against Utah. Our D is amazing.

ProudUte replied to the topic The great thing about this defense is in the forum Football 1 year, 3 months ago
UW and USC do not have good running games so Scalley can focus on the pass. Oregon, however, can run and pass. The Oregon game will not be easy for our defense.

Seems fair since we are on the road in a hostile environment. OSU has a great running attack, but our run defense is incredibly good. OSU’s pass defense is their weakness. But, we can’t pass. Should be an interesting game.
By the way, I would be shocked to see Cam play before we play Cal in three weeks.
Go Utes!!!

He kicks a 53 FG in OT for the win. He kicked a total of 4 50+ yard field goals today. No wonder that he is the highest-paid kicker in the NFL.
On top of that Moss ran for 122 yards and Blackmon had 12 tackles.

Well, they are pretty bad and there is no way to spin it otherwise. However, when you consider:
– We are missing at least 7 of our best offensive players including 2 of our top 3 QBs and 3 of our top 4 running backs. Add to that your starting center, an all-conference tight end, and at least two receivers.
– When we were up 14-0 there was no…[Read more]
