I tend to agree with you. However, 1) If Can is declared ready and he wants to go, does Whitt make a decision to sit him? 2) We shouldn’t take any game lightly and it is easy to do after seeing Baylor yesterday. Do we risk losing the game by sitting a healthy Cam Rising?

I think (don’t know) that Isbell thought that he would not start with Vaki and Ritchie in the mix, so he went where he could start for his senior season. I respect that and wish him well.

After yesterday’s results, the ESPN matchup predictor has us at a 73.2 % chance of winning. Obviously, Baylor’s defense (especially pass D) did not play well yesterday. Their D is terrible. They have given up 450 yards to Texas State with basically a quarter to go. Even if RIsing is ready, maybe we give him some more time to heal.

First, let me say that I am very pleased with the win on Thursday and the defense was great holding Florida’s running game to virtually nothing and getting 5 sacks. Our special teams were fantastic. However, there are three main issues IMO.

We know they couldn’t move the ball against BYU’s vaunted defense last season.

Actually, since I do not know anything about who they picked up in the portal and who is returning, I really don’t know much about them. They do appear to be a run-first team, which is good for us, especially if we get a few guys back.

Florida stacked the box virtually every first down. Even after the first play of the game, they continued to stack the box. In order for us to run successfully we will need to be able to complete some intermediate passes.

I think the run game will come especially after Rising returns.

I agree with most all of your points.

After we were up by 21 points, the game plan changed. Whitt wanted to get our of there with a win. Considering we had 8 key players missing, the decision was right IMO. They beat Southern Utah 24-21. Wow, it looks like ASU has some serious issues. I bet BYU hangs 50 points on SUU next Saturday.

We have a kicker who can put kickoffs in the endzone.

We have a punter who can boom the punts.

We can now kick FGs outside of the 20-yard line.

Our punt and kick coverage looked better.

All of this will make a difference throughout the season, especially in close games.

We had 8 guys miss all or part of the game last night. Also, Rose our potential backup QB is out. I cannot remember ever having that many guys on our team miss a game, even at mid-season.

I believe that is what I heard Whitt say. If so, can he play next week? But, I am honestly more worried about the 4 defensive players who were out. We need to get them back.

I don’t disagree and we did make some mistakes. For me, that’s a discussion for another day. I have some thoughts to post too. It really was an incredible win considering how many key players were absent.

That’s incredible. We were not perfect, but hell we won with almost half our starters missing including our two best offensive players and three of our best defensive players. I am hearing some whining from Ute fans. Be happy with this win. We got it done under adverse conditions.
