  • I was thinking last night how happy I am to be a Ute fan. I have been cheering for the Utes for over 60 years and have never looked back. I am excited about this season, not because I think we will go 15-0. I suspect we will have a few hiccups along the way. I am just excited to see this group of kids play.

I am also proud to see how far the…[Read more]

At the half against a very good Lone Peal team- Wilson has 5 touchdown passes and over 250 yards. He has also run the ball well. He threw two TD passes that were strikes that went 50 yards in the air. This kid knows how to play football.

There is a sophomore defensive end on Lone Peak (Mutalo?) who is a stud. He won’t be available until 2026,…[Read more]

Something has to be going on to jump 2.5 points in one hour. I gotta believe they know better than to trust Whitt’s depth chart.

  • ProudUte replied to the topic Depth Chart drop. in the forum Football 1 year, 2 months ago

We have only one senior shown as a starter on what Whitt has called his best defense. We may be good this year, but consider what we may be in 2024. I understand that a few guys like Bishop may jump to the NFL, but still …

We appear to have lots of depth at every position.

Of course, the QB depth chart means almost nothing and I doubt that…[Read more]

  • In theory, today was the latest that Whitt was going to release the depth chart. Where would one go to see it?

  • ProudUte replied to the topic Trick Plays in the forum Football 1 year, 2 months ago

Agreed Tony. In the Rose Bowl, we were tied and driving down the field and did a trick play that proved to be very costly. I like some trick plays at the right time and place, but when your line is dominating in the trenches – it is probably not necessary.

  • ProudUte replied to the topic Kyle Whittingham in the forum Football 1 year, 2 months ago

Exactly 79!!! BYU fans get upset at things and act like BYU or its fans have never done anything wrong.

When Whitt did the onside kick against Wyoming years ago – I thought it was a bit much. In a moment of anger, Whitt crossed the line of good sportsmanship IMO. CB fans bring this up at least monthly. However, they don’t speak of all the…[Read more]

When BYU was on top of the world – their offensive and defensive coordinators were former Ute players. They owned the Utes. But I don’t remember any Ute fans saying terrible things about these guys.

Whitt does not hate BYU but he does play the rivalry card.

I don’t understand the terribly hateful posts on CB the last few days. I get that the…[Read more]

  • Trump’s mug shot photo found here reminds me of what CB posters think of Kyle Whittingham. 🙂

  • By the way, as of right now, 5 of CBs to ten posts deal with their hatred of Whitt. The posts are mostly illogical and use made-up quotes that are NOT close to being true. I just don’t get these CB posters. How can they say one thing on Sunday and act full of spite and retribution on the other days? I get not being a Whitt fan because he…[Read more]

  • CB has gone way too far today. They are simply making things up that Whitt said. Whitt only said that he thought that in 3-5 years things would change again. He never said anything about the Big 12 being a lousy conference, BYU being left out or Utah going to the Big10. There are over 200 anti-Whitt posts today calling him everything from a…[Read more]

  • Depth Chart

I know this doesn’t mean anything other than what the reporter has heard. But, it is interesting to see. I am not sure the real depth chart will mean much more because Whitt is always playing games.

59, I am with you. We need to plan for the future. Will Nate make mistakes? Of course, he will. Brady still made mistakes after 20 years in the NFL. But, the only way for Nate to learn is to get playing time. We as fans need to be patient because I am quite sure he will make a boneheaded mistake or two. Look at Cam’s first game against USC.…[Read more]

  • I am no OnlyU and never will be. I am sure OnlyU knows exactly what is going on, but he/she is sworn to secrecy.

  • I tend to agree with you. It doesn’t make a lot of sense to start him against Baylor unless he plays against Florida. However, look at it from Cam’s perspective. He wants to play the minute he has clearance. So, it may be wishful thinking on his part. The doctors may clear him next Saturday, but will Whitt want to risk playing him in a…[Read more]

  • I was in the car when I was listening to his weekly interview – so I am sure I have missed some of the things he said.

He said that he has not yet been cleared to play against Florida. BUT – he said that he is practicing 11 on 11 and could still go next week if cleared. Bill asked him if he was gaming everyone. He said that he was telling the…[Read more]

  • This source (friend of Cam) also said that he believes Nate will start. That’s a twist.

Cam believes he is very close to being cleared and may play as soon as Baylor.

Take it for what it’s worth. There are so many rumors flying around. It will be interesting to see the depth chart tomorrow.

I am not trying to state this as a fact. But, I tho…[Read more]

  • For me:

    – Barnes will start and Johnson will see action in select situations; i.e. third and short, red zone, etc. Whitt can say things are neck and neck. But, he has made his decision and they have started game prep with Barnes behind center. There is no way that they have not made their decision.

    – We will of course be a run-first team.…[Read more]

  • ProudUte replied to the topic If we lose in the forum Football 1 year, 2 months ago

I agree it will affect us nationally to a point. But, if we lose next Thursday, life will go on.

For some reason, I feel good about this game. I did not feel good last year. I am not sure why I feel better considering our injuries. But, I do feel good about the game. I think we will win. If we happen to lose, life will go on and so will the…[Read more]

  • Fall camp was productive but we had too many “soft tissue” type injuries. He hopes to have most players back for the game next week.

They have a blueprint they use to get the right number of reps for the starter without risking injuries. In the old days they practiced more and hit more. It is really watered down in comparison. There are no…[Read more]
