I do not agree, but I completely understand. This is the most painful season for me in over 60 years of watching Utah football. And it is not even close. Sometimes you have to take a break.

I think you are spot on about Whittingham pride. And, you are probably right that he will not hang it up.

BUT, as for me – I think we need the change ASAP in order to save this program.

Yes, he found some success in the NFL. He had a great offensive mind and used it as a QB coach, then coordinator and eventually head coach. The Giants organization surrounded him with great people and he went to a Super Bowl. In the end – he got fired from the Giants too.

First, let me say that I am and will always be big Whitt fan because of what he did with Utah football. However, there comes a time when you move on. The time is now because our program is a total disaster. We have 6 straight losses with a possibility of 8. That would be a record we don’t want.

I do not think that we have a terrific offensive coaching staff. A good offensive staff would work around the injuries and remain competitive.

The program is a disaster right now for many reasons. We are playing injured QBs who had season ending injuries. CRAZY!!! Our offense is pathetic. Yes, we have had some injuries, but other teams have similar situations and can still score TDs.

And most of the blame has to go to the coaching staff. Most of that blame has to go to the man on top. He is ultimately responsible.

I am not smart enough to know why, when, and where this season went so bad, but it has.

I personally think it would be a good get for the Utes.

I know from sources close to me that Scalley has been talking to at least one future assistant.

Does this mean that Whitt is going to hang it up? I don’t know that. But I think he should. He has lost this team and it’s very sad to see what has happened.

Scalley will have a lot of work ahead of him. Utah football is in a bad place.

As for me – I will rarely boo a college football player on either side. I never get booing the opposition as they run onto the field. That’s just not me.

I will, however, boo coaches, play calling, refs, etc.

I am not saying that I am right or wrong. It’s just my style.

I agree that Ludwig will not go anywhere in the middle of the season. That’s just not Whitt’s MO.

Whitt has to admit he has lost his edge and I hope he realizes it’s time to go. These last two seasons are inexcusable IMO. They have been painful.

I think Scalley will open things up. Why? Look at when he was the special teams coordinator. He would run trick plays on special teams. Remember the punt return against Oregon when Covey faked receiving the bacll. Remember the kickoff return that cost us a safety against ASU when Covey passed the ball backward into the endzone. This offense is terrible. We have three TDs in the last three weeks against weak defenses.

I’m sorry, but Whitt has lost his edge and I now think it is time that he hangs it up. These guys came out flat last night. It was nauseating.
