  • Yes, he found some success in the NFL. He had a great offensive mind and used it as a QB coach, then coordinator and eventually head coach. The Giants organization surrounded him with great people and he went to a Super Bowl. In the end – he got fired from the Giants too.

The point for Utah is – we need to rebuild and I don’t think Whitt is…[Read more]

  • First, let me say that I am and will always be big Whitt fan because of what he did with Utah football. However, there comes a time when you move on. The time is now because our program is a total disaster. We have 6 straight losses with a possibility of 8. That would be a record we don’t want.

Whitt has been paid very well and has a very…[Read more]

  • I do not think that we have a terrific offensive coaching staff. A good offensive staff would work around the injuries and remain competitive.

  • The program is a disaster right now for many reasons. We are playing injured QBs who had season ending injuries. CRAZY!!! Our offense is pathetic. Yes, we have had some injuries, but other teams have similar situations and can still score TDs.

I am afraid there will be a mass-exodus in December and that many of our recruits will de-commit.…[Read more]

  • I have been out of the country for a few weeks, so I have not posted.

But, it is hard me to be engaged in Utah football right now. I suspected that we would go 10-2 or 9-3. I never dreamed that we would be in the middle of a five-game losing streak. I have survived two 1-10 seasons. But, this is by far the most painful Ute football season in…[Read more]

  • And most of the blame has to go to the coaching staff. Most of that blame has to go to the man on top. He is ultimately responsible.

I am not smart enough to know why, when, and where this season went so bad, but it has.

I have never (in over 60 years) been so upset with our football program. I really cannot explain my disappointment.

    IMO,…[Read more]

  • I do know, but I don’t think it right thing to say. He is an assistant on a college team in Utah.

I personally think it would be a good get for the Utes.

  • I know from sources close to me that Scalley has been talking to at least one future assistant.

Does this mean that Whitt is going to hang it up? I don’t know that. But I think he should. He has lost this team and it’s very sad to see what has happened.

Scalley will have a lot of work ahead of him. Utah football is in a bad place.

As for me – I will rarely boo a college football player on either side. I never get booing the opposition as they run onto the field. That’s just not me.

I will, however, boo coaches, play calling, refs, etc.

I am not saying that I am right or wrong. It’s just my style.

Since Saturday I have talked to many of my fellow Utes. (Some I know and others I met yesterday who I do not know). 100% of the people I talked to feel Whitt should go at the end of the season. I know this in no way is a valid poll. But, I found it interesting that everyone loves Whitt and what he has done for Utah football. However, they all…[Read more]

  • I agree that Ludwig will not go anywhere in the middle of the season. That’s just not Whitt’s MO.

Whitt has to admit he has lost his edge and I hope he realizes it’s time to go. These last two seasons are inexcusable IMO. They have been painful.

Whitt has been a great Utah football coach. He deserves to be recognized for his amazing…[Read more]

  • I think Scalley will open things up. Why? Look at when he was the special teams coordinator. He would run trick plays on special teams. Remember the punt return against Oregon when Covey faked receiving the bacll. Remember the kickoff return that cost us a safety against ASU when Covey passed the ball backward into the endzone. I liked the…[Read more]

  • This offense is terrible. We have three TDs in the last three weeks against weak defenses.

I’m sorry, but Whitt has lost his edge and I now think it is time that he hangs it up. These guys came out flat last night. It was nauseating.

Ludwig is the offensive coordinator and QB coach. He is responsible for this mess. He can’t develop QBs. He…[Read more]

  • It ain’t going to happen, but just for fun:

Scalley will be the head coach at some point, and I am perfectly fine with that.

Offensive coordinator – Brian Johnso (I get that this is not likely, but Brian has a great football mind and lots of experience. He does like Utah and has some local ties. It’s a long shot.

    Receiver’s coach – Steve…[Read more]

  • The point is that Cam gave Ute fans so many positive memories. I’m sad that his career as a Ute ended the way that it did.

The entire USC game from Oct 15, 2022 was amazing. He target Kincaid 16 times and Kincaid had 16 catches. Rising and Kincaid made a great duo that night in RES.

    Thanks Cam!!!

  • Thanks for your leadership in 2021 and 2022. You led the team to two PAC 12 championships. The game in 2022 at RES against USC was amazing. You showed leadership, strength, and a ton of courage to lead the Utes to that win. That will always be one of my favorite games as a Utes fan.

I’m sorry that you have struggled with injuries. I was so…[Read more]

  • The one thing I agree with in your post is that we should not consider Cam coming back. We need to move on. We have had two hellacious seasons trying to navigate through his many injuries.

I agree that I want Whitt and Ludwig to open it up. We don’t have a lot to lose. Let Wilson play and do what he does best. He will make mistakes, but that is how he will learn. He is our future.

With a Freshman leading our offense and so many key injuries on defense, I highly doubt we will win the remainder of our games, and that’s okay.…[Read more]

  • Yes, I believe this is true. However, I think we ara long way from there right now. If Whitt wants to coach next year – he will. But, at some point the administration may come to him and say that its time.

They tried to let Mac go with dignity but he didn’t want any part of it. It took a few years but Mac is seen as a Ute football icon.

  • Whitt has been the best things that happened to Utah football and has had a great 20 year ride. Consequently, I would neve push him out.

That being said, I think it is time for him to hang it up and turn it over to Scalley. Why? The team does not seem cohesive and lacks the energy we have seen in the past. I think the program needs a…[Read more]
