  • Utah is the second least likely to repeat as conference champs among the P5 leagues.
This is a nice article. I agree with most of what he wrote. The road to a threepeat is a tough one. It’s nice that we are in these conversations.

  • Money Parks is listed as 48th behind two Utes I thought he would be rated higher than, Glover (41) and Pittmen (44). I think Parks is set up to have a very good season. I still think Vele and Kuithe will be the top receivers.
Utah already has two RBs listed in the 60, with two more to come (Bernard in the top 20 and Jackson in the top 10 IMO).…[Read more]

  • Who will be the breakout players in 2023? I am not talking about true freshmen. I am talking about guys who have played, maybe even have started, but were not the stars. Mine are:

Miki Suguturaga – I think he will be a solid tight end – mostly blocking.
Yassmin – He started to break out in the last 6 games of last season. He is big, strong,…[Read more]

I do not want to get political, but I wanted to say something about this country. We are not perfect, we have our flaws. The Constitution was not perfect when it was written. However, it was the best thing at the time. Our founding fathers knew this and expected us to update it to meet the needs of the country’s citizens. I am so grateful for…[Read more]

  • We just had our best recruiting class ever. Who will be the impact players this season?
The leading candidates IMO are: Mikey Matthews, Fano brothers, CJ Blocker, Smith Snowden.and Jonathan Hall.
Logan Fano is sure to get some playing time and I think Mikey Matthews will be in the WR rotation. Based on what I have heard from the coaches, I think…[Read more]

  • Rondo Fehlberg was the Athletic Director in Provo back 20+ years ago. He was interviewed on 1280 this morning when I was out running errands. It was a refreshing interview because he seemed totally honest. He did not try to sugar-coat anything. Some tidbits:
The Big Ten needs Rutgers and Purdue in its conference. He said it is important to…[Read more]

  • The article suggests that Utah has a 17.5% chance of winning the conference and we are predicted to win 9 games.
Of course, there is no way that a computer can accurately make these kind of projections, especially with the addition of so many new recruits and portal transfers. However, I would say that the results seem about right to me. It has…[Read more]

  • I love Utah football and have been a big fan for 60 years. But, for me, it’s not a social event. (Pre and post-game is a different story.) I hate watching Utah football with people who do not understand football or are not Utah football fans. Nothing bothers me more when I am watching football than a nonfootball fan asking silly questions like,…[Read more]

  • What position group will be our strongest in 2023?
I think there is an argument to be made for running backs, Oline, Dline, tight ends, and linebackers. I suppose one could argue QBs too. I predict it will be the Dline. We have experience, size, and depth at the Dline. The next best group IMO will be the running backs. If we get Ritchie…[Read more]

  • Nice article. He thinks that Utah’s defense will lead the way to a third straight PAC12 championship.
    Utes to win PAC12

  • The top candidates would be: Williams, Blackmon, Weddle, Bishop, Lusk, Scalley, and Larry Wilson.
Larry Wilson is Utah’s only Hall of Fame NFL player. But, he played 60 years ago. I love Blackmon and Marcus Williams is a stud. I love what Bishop adds to our current team. But, in the end – I have to go with Weddle. I believe he will be Utah’s…[Read more]

  • He was asked about Jazz trade and he said Collins is a good fit, but nothing too exciting.
He thinks that there may be a lot of commitments in college football in the next few weeks. There are a few potential Utes who are scheduled to announce in early July.
He said that Hunter Andrews committed to Utah to play defense at Utah, specifically at…[Read more]

  • Who are your all-time favorite Utes and why. Here are my top five:

Eric Weddle – What a stud on and off the field. He did everything for us, defense, special teams, and even offense. He was a great player and an even better guy.
Alex Smith – What can I say – he ended up being the number one pick in the NFL draft. He is the best QB in Utah…[Read more]

  • There has been about one new thread per day on the board this last week. I want to talk football all 12 months. So, I am going to generate some football-related posts to start discussions.
The question of the day – What were your favorite Utah football games?
My top 10 in chronological order:
    – The 1964 Liberty Bowl win against West Virginia.…[Read more]

  • We rotate defensive linemen to keep guys fresh. Every team rotates running backs and wide receivers. Most teams rarely rotate offensive linemen. I hear that it is because the timing and teamwork up front are so critical.
So my question is – would it make sense for the Utes to rotate linebackers to keep them fresh? We have four or five very…[Read more]

  • It will be about two months until the top ten in the annual 60in60 are announced. I believe the following Utes will make the top ten.
Rising, Kuithe, Laumea, Bishop, Tafuna, Jackson, and possibly Reid
I am not sure Reid deserves to be there over Barton, but the media seems to like him a lot.
Personally, I think Pepa should be in the top ten, but…[Read more]

  • ProudUte started the topic Cam Rising in 2023 in the forum Football 1 year, 5 months ago

I read an article recently that did not have Cam Rising as a top-25 QB prospect going into the 2024 NFL draft. Last year he was a consistent top-10 prospect. I know he suffered a serious injury in the Rose Bowl. But, I am surprised that he has fallen so far.
Very few national talking heads seem to be giving Cam much of a chance of getting back…[Read more]

  • This article talks about Isaac’s decision to pick Utah and how Zach helped him in his review of the two teams.

  • I have been thinking lately about the number of receptions our receivers will get. We have an all-conference weapon in Kuither. Some people are high on Pittman. Vele is a solid and experienced target as is Bernard coming out of the backfield. Here are my uneducated estimates of the number of catches our main receivers will get per game.
    Kuithe…[Read more]

  • I’m sorry – I couldn’t resist this.
I stopped visiting the Cougar board last December because it is so full of hate. Well, I made the mistake of visiting the CB site today. On the front page of this site – they display the top ten posts (most likes). Nine of the top ten posts dealt directly with the Utes or with the potential fall of the PAC12.…[Read more]
