For years we dominated special teams in the PAC12. We had the first-team punter, kicker, and a returner. Covey was first-team in 2021, but outside of him – we had totally fallen off the map. We went from two all-american punters and two all-american kickers to some of the worst kickers and punters in the nation.

On another recruiting note, some BYU friends say that Isaac Wilson has Utah at the top of his list. (They are not pleased.) It would be nice to pick up the top two Corner Canyon players.

Smith Snowden won the 100 & 200-meter 6A finals yesterday. We will not lack speed at CB for the next few years.

Our first five games in conference are UCLA, OSU, Cal, USC, and Oregon. I think UCLA will be good (not great). I think OSU will be one of the best teams in the conference and it’s a road game. Coach Whitt Weighs in on New Rules
I am okay with the latest changes but I do not want to change it to the same rules as the NFL where there is no stopping the clock on first down, even in the last two minutes. Apparently, Whitt wants college football to follow the NFL model.

There need to be some changes made to the portal and NIL, if we want to see college football, continue to be viable. Below are a few ideas. I am not a lawyer, just a college football fan.

The word on the street is that he had some interesting NIL offers so he put his name in the portal early enough to be able to play this fall. Some rich BYU donors stepped up and matched the offers. He is now staying.
I can’t blame the BYU donors for doing what they did. Epps is a very good WR. Keeping him is a big deal.
