ProudUte started the topic I miss college football so much that in the forum Football 2 years, 10 months ago
I rewatched the PAC12 championship game. The players of the game IMO were:
Bishop and Lloyd on defense. Bishop had a great game. I suspect he will be an all-conference player for multiple years. He reminds me of Weddle.
Rising’s running on offense. He made a number of key runs in this game. The most fun to watch was when he stiff-armed…[Read more] -

I love this quote on Coach Whitt, “Seat heat: irrelevant (Whittingham doesn’t have a seat; he has a throne)”

ProudUte started the topic Weddle played every defensive snap in the forum Football 2 years, 10 months ago
This guy is 37, has been retired for two years, and just three weeks ago started playing football again. It’s amazing that he played every snap yesterday.
The ultimate Ute.
The only bad news is that he delayed his potential hall-of-fame bid for two years. 🙂

Darn impressive for a guy who has been retired for two years.
I hope he gets a Super Bowl Ring. -

… has a 4 or 5-star recruit starting as their QB. None of these guys want to wait to start – so they transfer out to somewhere they can start immediately. We have lost two 4-star QB recruits during their freshman year.
It apparently doesn’t hurt their future NFL prospects to play for a lesser college team. Just look at Josh Allen, Jimmy G.,…[Read more] -
ProudUte started the topic Our coaching staff in the forum Football 2 years, 10 months ago
I need to first say that I love coach Whitt and I am happy with his selections of Ganther and Ellis. However, I just wanted to hear people’s thoughts about the makeup of a coaching staff.
Coach Whitt has typically created a staff of people with Utah ties, that he already knows. The only two coaches on our current staff who did not have Utah…[Read more] -
ProudUte started the topic An uneducated prediction as to where Ute players are drafted in the forum Football 2 years, 10 months ago
I have not done any research on this or checked any draft predictions. These are just my gut feelings about where our players will be drafted.
First Round
Lloyd – He should be a first-rounder and probably the second or third LB drafted.
Third thru fifth round
Ford – Can play any position on the line
Tafua – Not sure about this one, but maybe…[Read more] -
ProudUte started the topic Are you planning on going to the Florida game? in the forum Football 2 years, 10 months ago
A large group of us are going to Florida for the game. I also remembered that BYU will be playing in Florida against USF that Labor Day weekend. We will be spending time in Orlando, so I thought I had better get my flights arranged before hordes of BYU and Utah fans decide to go to Florida that weekend. We all know what happened to the price of…[Read more]

As most of you know 1280 the zone ranks the 60 best players in Utah each summer before the season. They came out with the actual top ten according to their opinions. (This is Scott Gerrard’s pick. Hans’ picks are similar.) BYU fans are up in arms that Lloyd is ranked higher than Allgeier and Rising is ranked higher than Hall. I personally…[Read more]

Utah is landing in many top-ten preseason rankings. I think the positive publicity for the Utes is wonderful and will help in recruiting.
If we take off our crimson glasses for a moment – do we deserve these rankings? Are we truly a top-ten team?
One thing I know for sure is that we are not in the same league as Alabama and Georgia. Those…[Read more] -
ProudUte started the topic I think our final ranking is fair in the forum Football 2 years, 10 months ago
I think being ranked 12th is about right. We are the ONLY four-loss team in the top-twenty and there is only one three-loss team ranked above us (Mississippi at 11).
We started the season poorly, fixed some things, and ended strong. It’s not how you start the season that counts (coug fans), it is how you finish.
I am happy to see our neighbors…[Read more] -

Yes, the ranking itself is meaningless, but the publicity is excellent. The more our name is in front of recruits the better. It also gives the current players a sense of pride.
I am far from being able to drink the kool-aid yet. But, there are many things to be optimistic about right now. I hope to be in Gainsville on September 3rd. That…[Read more] -

In a perfect world:
– Whitt stays until then
– Utah makes the playoff and gets to the championship game
– We have 50,000 fans show up in Vegas for the game
– Whitt retires after the game

There are some very interesting stats in this article. The PAC12 schools need to increase their investment in football if they want to compete.

Red state schools dominate in college football today; i.e. Alabama, Georgia, Louisiana, Texas, Oklahoma, South Carolina, et al. Is there a correlation? -

ProudUte started the topic Will Diabate be an edge rusher instead of a LB? in the forum Football 2 years, 10 months ago
He started his career at Florida as an edge rusher. We seem to have some quality athletes ready to play LB. Edge rushing has not been great for the Utes since Anae left. I have no clue, just a thought. I’m sure Scalley will place him where he can do the most good.
