Puget Ute replied to the topic Why am I so scared about this game? in the forum Football 9 years, 1 month ago
They got UCLA after Myles Jack was out for the season and missing a few other important players. They forced Rosen to make a bunch of Freshman mistakes. And yet they only won by 6 points (UCLA gifted them a field position Safety and a long TD run while attempting to strip the ball). UCLA is not the same team they were at the start of the…[Read more]

If GA becomes our HC within the next 3 years I want Chris Hill to get fired. He needs to prove that he can turn around the OSU program and take them to bowl games before we should touch him.

Exactly. Whitt and Andersen probably picked it up from Urban Meyer, Fred Whittingham, Ron McBride, or Lavell.

We should absolutely run the pick play when they man up on our WRs. PAC refs won’t call it unless it is blatantly obvious.

Utah has become a DB factory. We currently have 8+ in the NFL and are one of the only schools to have a Corner or Safety drafted each year for the last 5 years. And the depth of talented players on the field this year is perhaps the best ever.
But Defensive players only get noticed if they are brash and boisterous like Richard Sherman, or hit…[Read more]

Puget Ute replied to the topic A pretty important break on Saturday was the muffed fake punt in the forum Football 9 years, 1 month ago
I think the fake was there and would have worked easily. That play probably goes for 5 yards in that situation, because we had 7 big blockers in a tight wedge, with a big LB running the ball (was it Whittingham?), against a defensive front that was wide open up the middle.
Execution was lacking unfortunately (bad snap fumbled by the back) and…[Read more]

Ahh, their fans are so cute!
I hope he learns some better critical thinking skills at Quinney Law School, or else he will give it a bad name.

Owning a few car dealerships certainly helps the cashflow.

Go Texas! I am happy to see them figure out how to play. CHarlie Strong is my 2nd favorite coach after WHitt.
And as always, Screw Mack Brown for lobbying to Texas into teh Rose Bowl instead of in the Fiesta Bowl vs Utah.

THat sounds like a lot of fun. THe fishing up here in Seattle is mostly salmon and halibut. Great fish to catch and eat, but a completely different experience.
After Mike LEach was fired at TT he moved to Key West and went fishing for two years, while still on salary. That would be the life.
This stupid laptop keyboard is driving me crazy

I was down there for a wedding in June 2011. The wedding was in Huntington Beach, the reception was at Cota de Caza CC, and we were staying in Mission Viejo. This was a few days after the start of Carmageddon. What a friggin nightmare. Once we were in the area it was pretty easy to move around on the surface streets. But it would have taken us…[Read more]

I agree, and it is as disingenuous as blaming Rudock for the loss because he missed wide-open passes to Chesson and Darboh. What people who say that fail to mention is that Rudock was forced to throw both passes early because on both passes he was half a step away from being obliterated by a very strong and very fast pass rusher intent on…[Read more]

Yup. Looked like only 10k people were in the stands at the start of the game.
My uncle had a ~20 mile commute into Long Beach, and it would take him between 45 min (at 3:30 am) and 2 hrs (afternoons). The place is nice and the weather is comfortable, but the crowds are oppressive.
I left 20+ years ago when there were 10M fewer people than…[Read more]

Puget Ute replied to the topic CAL fans perspective on UF.N in the forum Misc 9 years, 1 month ago
I agree with their statements. UF.N was great in 2000-2003, but it is too bloated now and the java appears to be a huge mess. It is almost unreadable on an iPad now.
UF.N’s strength as always is its community.

Yes, they definitely fell apart on Offense. IIRC they never approached the Red Zone all game, and barely crossed beyond the 50 into WSU territory. Our scores were on a Pick 6, and PRTD, a 74 yd Booker run, and a ~40 yd FG.
I believe that was one of the games where the DBs would call out Scott’s plays before the ball was snapped (6 yd curl!),…[Read more]

Puget Ute replied to the topic What do we know about Cal? in the forum Football 9 years, 1 month ago
I just thought of one more thing. Our brand-new turf field will likely be slippery for at least the first game. How badly will that hurt a team which relies on receivers running precise routes? I have to think a relatively slippery field condition might help a team who has a power run game and hurt a passing game.
