I don’t think Lohner has any eligibility remaining for football next season.

Far be it from me to defend BYU on this issue, but I am happy to defend the Church as an Institution. The claim here is that there is hypocrisy in saying they don’t want BYU to be in a Pay for Play situation. I would actually argue, the current AJ signing and NIL is actually one of the few current exceptions where we have an honest-to-goodness NIL…[Read more]

No one is saying Kyle is dumb. He’s had success because his method (and his defense) is tried and true. But the thing is, it only works until it doesn’t. And when it doesn’t…

radioUte replied to the topic Transfers Out? in the forum Football 2 weeks, 4 days ago
The NCAA settlement sets maximum roster size at 105, all of which are eligible to be scholarship athletes. I believe Utah carries somewhere around 120-123 on the roster currently. That means that considering the portal players coming in, the high school players coming in, and seniors leaving, there needs to be net reduction of 15+ players to set…[Read more]

We have to cut our roster significantly this offseason, just like every other P4 school so departures are coming. The fact that none have been announced yet just tells me the staff has solidifying coaching hires as the #1 priority and haven’t yet had the difficult discussions that are due for multiple players.

I hear the deal is done – Burgess going back to BYU. I felt like he was holding things together for Smith, so IMO this is bad news for us.

I’d caution everyone to pay no attention to this. It is coming from Tony Altimore. During the Pac12 disaster he showed himself as a shill at best and a troll at worst (or maybe the other way around). Either way, these days he posts only for reaction. I’ll tip my cap to him because he goes out of his way to target BYU, but in this sense he is…[Read more]

Hypocrite:
Capel about the Big 12: "They play these non-conference schedules that are not very challenging… The average margin of victory, I think, was 27 points, and that skews the numbers."
Pitt's average margin of victory against the #344 non-con SOS? Exactly 27 points per game. https://t.co/J9I6epZGyw

Hate to add another BYU player for consideration, but Bart Oates was a 5x Pro bowler and 3x Superbowl champion as an NFL center. And I hope that Covey will eventually pass Vai Sikahema as best NFL kick returner from Utah (and for Philadelphia).

radioUte replied to the topic Not trying to stir up trouble but I've got a question about Utah NIL deals. in the forum Football 11 months, 3 weeks ago
Seems pretty clear that everyone involved (Rising and Whittingham) intentionally slow-played the return timeline, most likely in order to preserve our high preseason ranking. Once Rising started taking heat further into the season, and he felt like he wasn’t getting Whittingham’s support for something they had both been doing, he orchestrated the…[Read more]

radioUte replied to the topic Expansion question: in the forum Football 2 years, 4 months ago
You said it right in your post – The P12 brings better brands, markets, and destinations. When (and it is when, not if) the B1G completes its expansion, it will be taking teams with the better brands, markets, and destinations. That makes the P12 vulnerable, more so than the B12 teams.
So B12 teams are not going to the B1G. That leaves the…[Read more]

I don’t understand why people are 1. complaining about the OC or 2. even discussing the possibility of a top-level offensive coach coming here.
As long as Whittingham is the head coach the offense will be mediocre at best and either the 9th or 10th offensive coordinator in almost as many years is not going to change that.
For the same reason,…[Read more]
