I agree with Tony. This defense is tackling so much better this year than last and if that is due to live reps then so be it! If we tackled this season the way we did at the start of last season we would be 1-3 right now.

LOL! Those are two very unimpressive QBs you just named there. You proved my point.

Klatt was not a good enough player for Miami to put a hit on him! No way that happened anywhere but in his mind.

Rick replied to the topic Taking stock of our injury issues in the forum Football 1 year, 3 months ago
You are wrong about Rose. Based on the spring game and summer camp up to his injury, he was the clear #2 and would have been the starter barring injury. I watched him in spring and he is clearly a better QB than Barnes and Nate. He is very similar to Cam in his delivery and execution and he has pretty decent feet.

Several of the holding calls in that Baylor game were largely not holding at all. Engaging with someone by grabbing their jersey inside of their shoulders is NOT holding. The refs were overly sensitive that day and only 1 or 2 of them were actually holding. Another officiating crew would have called that game a lot differently. Only one of…[Read more]

Rick replied to the topic Please, no more Barnes. in the forum Football 1 year, 3 months ago
I think the story around Barnes is great and I think we all want him to do well. What I don’t like is the expectations placed on him by many and then the way those same people just trash him when he falls short. Objectively, he is not a very serviceable P5-level college QB. He is late on his throws and he always seems to be very tentative which…[Read more]

Rick replied to the topic Colorado – Impressed but not sold in the forum Football 1 year, 3 months ago
TCU’s tackling was just horrible. I think the shortened amount of snaps this year may give TCU several losses this season that they were able to scrap last season. I do not think TCU is a quality team overall and their flaws exposed in the championship game are even greater now.

The tackling was just plain awful in that game. Even Bishop called it out and he was one of the guys that missed some crucial tackles! Barton, Reed, Bishop all whiffed a few times in that game. I expect to see much better tackling tomorrow night!

I like our chances of them running out of gas in the 4th quarter and us winning by a slim margin if Cam can’t go and by double digits if he can go.

Rick replied to the topic Whitt announces Barnes as starter – in the forum Football 1 year, 4 months ago
Well if the WSU game last year is any indication, we threw 27 times and ran 41 times. A total of 68 plays so we took the air out of the ball and played solid defense. I expect a similar game. Hopefully the Florida boys will be gassed by the 4th quarter.

Rick started the topic Coach Smith in the forum Basketball (Men) 1 year, 9 months ago
Can anyone on here sell me on Coach Smith? His team plays soft. They are not physical. They are largely poor shooters. They are not aggressive on the boards. He has yet to prove he can recruit top notch players. So sell me on him. I just don’t see it. I am not one to usually compare coaches but compared to Larry, I think Smith was a…[Read more]

Even if you exclude USC and UCLA from the Pac 12, if you are Oklahoma State, Texas Tech, Kansas, K-State, Iowa State and possibly TCU, doesn’t the Pac 12 look more attractive with what they will have left than what the Big 12 will be left with? Having the schools in OR and WA, Cal, Stanford, Utah, Colorado and the AZ schools has to be a more…[Read more]

So the transfer portal officially started in October 2018 and since then has there been any real significant players come into our football program from this process that have actually become great players for us? Conversely have there been any players from our program leave via the portal to go onto to become great players for someone else? I…[Read more]

From our Conference Championship and Alamo Bowl games in 2019 through last Saturday the Utes have gone 4-5. I have been willing to write off the Oregon loss as just them being a better team and the entire 2020 season as just a COVID-induced debacle. However, I got the same exact feeling last Saturday night as I did during our Alamo Bowl game…[Read more]
