Rick started the topic Coach Smith in the forum Basketball (Men) 1 year, 10 months ago
Can anyone on here sell me on Coach Smith? His team plays soft. They are not physical. They are largely poor shooters. They are not aggressive on the boards. He has yet to prove he can recruit top notch players. So sell me on him. I just don’t see it. I am not one to usually compare coaches but compared to Larry, I think Smith was a…[Read more]

Rick started the topic Not so fast on the Pac 12's demise in the forum Pac-12 2 years, 6 months ago
Even if you exclude USC and UCLA from the Pac 12, if you are Oklahoma State, Texas Tech, Kansas, K-State, Iowa State and possibly TCU, doesn’t the Pac 12 look more attractive with what they will have left than what the Big 12 will be left with? Having the schools in OR and WA, Cal, Stanford, Utah, Colorado and the AZ schools has to be a more…[Read more]

Rick started the topic Transfer portal question in the forum Football 3 years, 3 months ago
So the transfer portal officially started in October 2018 and since then has there been any real significant players come into our football program from this process that have actually become great players for us? Conversely have there been any players from our program leave via the portal to go onto to become great players for someone else? I…[Read more]

Rick started the topic Uninspired in the forum Football 3 years, 3 months ago
From our Conference Championship and Alamo Bowl games in 2019 through last Saturday the Utes have gone 4-5. I have been willing to write off the Oregon loss as just them being a better team and the entire 2020 season as just a COVID-induced debacle. However, I got the same exact feeling last Saturday night as I did during our Alamo Bowl game…[Read more]

Rick started the topic Offense changes in the forum Football 6 years, 3 months ago
I would like to see the Utes go back to the offense they ran last year with Troy Williams. No RPO. Direct handoffs to Zach so he knows he is getting the ball and where his blocks will be. Run 60-65% of the plays, pass 35-40%. Pass routes mostly in the 5-15 yard range with very few long balls. Play action, especially if we are running 65% of…[Read more]

Rick started the topic Cal really sucks! in the forum Basketball (Men) 6 years, 11 months ago
I rewatched the Cal game yesterday and what I noticed is that Cal is super athletic but their players look like this may be their second or third year playing basketball. Their bigs have very little skill compared to ours and they looked almost foolish at times on the court. Their coach has a lot of work ahead of him for this team to be…[Read more]

Apparently most bowl prognosticators think Utah gets 6 wins:
CBS West Virginia in the Texas Bowl
SBNation K State in the Cactus Bowl
SI K State in the Cactus Bowl
ESPN #1 Boston College in the Pinstripe Bowl
ESPN #2 Texas in the Texas Bowl
Sporting News Army in the Armed Forces Bowl
USA Today Wyoming in the Arizona Bowl -

Rick started the topic Rylan Jones has committed to Utah Basketball in the forum Basketball (Men) 7 years, 5 months ago
He is a 4 star point guard out of Olympus High School. He will be a 2019 recruit and he is ranked at his age as one of the best point guards in the west. His dad, Chris Jones, played for the Utes back in 92-93. He was first team all state as a sophomore last year.

If they have 1 or 2 threads a day over there about sports it is a shock. All the board does all day is bash Trump and it is always the same handful of people doing it. It is like a broken record and I am never going back.

Rick started the topic Something to think about. in the forum Basketball (Men) 7 years, 9 months ago
If Butler and UCLA advance tonight that would mean that 50% of the Utes regular season losses came from Elite Eight teams. That is pretty impressive if you ask me and we were competitive in almost all of those losses. I am kind of a glass is half full guy.

Rick started the topic What a frustrating game! in the forum Basketball (Men) 7 years, 11 months ago
If the Utes would have come out and played just average in the first 8 minutes of the first half we win by 8-10 points in regulation. We will crush this Cal team at the Huntsman.
