I am 100% in agreement with AZUTE. Our tackles are elite. The interior OL has had some issues but it is largely because teams have stacked the box and dared us to throw. We have no WRs that can get any kind of separation and our “elite” TE play has been suspect all season. Blaming this on the OL is pretty typical of people who never consider…[Read more]

Rick replied to the topic Ranking the most disappointing position groups in the forum Football 2 months, 3 weeks ago
I think our linebacker play this season has been very poor. Bad reads, poor tackling, guessing instead of reading, etc. I think the injuries have also taken their toll on the athleticism of this position group. They just look slow and it is not just Barton. However, almost 100% of the fault on this teams is on the offensive side of the ball…[Read more]

I watched the BYU vs. SMU game. SMU was auditioning two different QBs during that game and had zero offensive cohesion at that point. It almost seemed like a throw away game for SMU. I think SMU would beat BYU by at least 7 or more points now.

I got a cure to all of the issues discussed on this board today. WIN. You win, this conference looks a lot better. You win, BYU fans shut the hell up. This program has gone 12-10 or a 54% winning percentage the past two seasons. That is really not much better than we have done back in the 70’s and 80’s.
How do you win? You win with talent,…[Read more]

Has anyone seen when the flag was actually thrown vs. when their QB was smothered by 4 Utes and then sacked? That would be very interesting if anyone has made that comparison.

I think our success with be against teams that don’t guard the perimeter very well. Like the past two teams we have played. Teams like Houston and Baylor will likely kill us with their perimeter quickness. However, I think we can hold our own with some of the less athletic teams. This team has some pretty serious shooters on it and their…[Read more]

Why wouldn’t he pick SMU over USC?

Rick replied to the topic Is there a Sione Vaki for Saturday? in the forum Football 2 months, 4 weeks ago
I don’t see it. Not compared to teams from the 2022 season and back. Compare this team to the 2019 team on both sides of the ball position by position, who you would keep vs. replace, and I think you would pretty much swap out this entire team with that team. That is NOT progress.

I have seen some very good plays by Isaac and some very bad plays. He is young and I believe he will grow into a fine QB. I would like to see an offense installed that is more like what he ran in high school. He is a decent runner and it was key to his success at Corner Canyon. I am hoping he stays, hits the weights and training table hard and…[Read more]

It was mostly the mid-70s through the 80s. We were 5-5 against those douches in the 1990 thanks to McBride!

This is exactly my feelings. To me the only players that are not seniors that I would be totally bummed if they left are Calhoun, Garcia, Lomu, both Fanos, Snowden (sometimes), Tao Johnson, Tanuvasa, Barton (if he can get his speed back), Woods (if he can actually play), Bouwmeester, Togiai, and Pepa. Notice I have not put in a single WR or TE…[Read more]

But when Singer is open it is not by much. I have never seen him clearly beat his man in any significant way. Almost all of his catches are contended that I have seen. Of course, I am not counting anything from the SUU game here. I do agree with game speed over top end speed but we lack that as well. So let’s look at some of our guys over the…[Read more]

I have been a loyal Ute fan since I was 10 years old back in about 1975. I have seen a lot of Ute football teams over the years and some have been very talented and some, not so much. I have watched this year’s team closely all season both in person and on TV. I have heard all of the pre-season hype about this team being one of Whitt’s best and…[Read more]

BYU has been living off of turnovers. If that continues they may have a special season. I would not back on it.

How in the hell can you say we would be undefeated if we used NIL money to keep Jackson? Jackson’s numbers so far this season are not as good as Micah through half the season. Micah is a much better all around running back. Period. Jackson has more size and is better at short yardage and goal line but our offense doesn’t sniff the goal line…[Read more]

The question that kept running through my mind all night Friday was why not take the damn glove off? If you are throwing in the dirt or 10 feet over receiver’s heads, but your hand is supposedly healed, why not try taking it off and throwing???
The other thing I noticed was the completely clueless and somewhat exhausted look on Kyle’s face in…[Read more]

Statistically Bernard is a better back than Scattebo. Bernard averages 6.7 YPG and Scattebo is at 5.5.

I was there and in a restricted view seat. I also attended the pre-season opener in seats three rows off the goalie! Man what a difference a seat makes! In the restricted view seats, once you get used to switching to the jumbotron when the action goes past your sight line, it isn’t all that bad. I did have some serious issues with how they…[Read more]
