  • What I see coming is an NFL-like structure with their being two conferences with east, north, south and west divisions. The playoff structure would be almost identical to the NFL with a big championship at the end of the two best of the best. I am pretty sure Kyle has some inside knowledge of where this is going which explains why he has been…[Read more]

I also liked Barefield when his head was right. He had some serious skills. As just a great person, you can’t beat DuBois either.

Larry had many significantly talented guards besides Delon. Below is a list of the more talented of his recruits but go down that list and tell me you would pass on most of them over the guards we currently have on our roster.

    Taylor
    DuBois
    Van Dyke
    Ogbe
    Tucker
    Isaiah Wright
    Bonam
    Barefield
    Bibbins
    Bealer
    Rylan…[Read more]

  • They way I see it is that most of our team’ issues are coaching related. I will grant you that some of our issues are due to lack of athleticism but then that points to recruiting. Poor defense. Awful free throw shooting. Horrible road performances. Pretty much everything you can think of point to coaching. If a coach like Bill Self or Duke’s…[Read more]

Consistent winning programs? Smith was at Utah State for a cup of coffee using other coaches recruits. I think you are way too generous with your assessment of Smith. I love how you say Larry underperformed with NBA talent. How did that NBA talent get here in the first place? Right now, the only NBA talent, and it is marginal at best, on this…[Read more]

You are telling me that in Larry’s first three seasons he had a more talented roster than Smith has had? Do you remember Larry’s roster his first two seasons? No way and Smith’s best player was a Larry recruit.

What I see is a team that does not play decent perimeter defense. They are horrible free-throw shooters. They get aggressively out…[Read more]

I keep hearing blanket statements that Smith is a much better coach than Larry. Can anyone give me clear, on the court, evidence that objectively proves this assertion?

  • That was one poorly officiated game. Pili got hammered on her last two possessions in regulation! Some of the play stoppages were also ridiculous. I am not usually a conspiracy theorist when it comes to refs but this one seemed very suspicious to me how the calls almost universally favored UCLA down the stretch in regulation. Some of the “and…[Read more]

  • I will have a tough time supporting a coach, any coach, that doesn’t play his best players. It is painfully obvious who are the 5 best players for Utah. They have been the starters these past two games. As the season moves closer to post season tournament time, you must tighten your rotations and give your best players the majority of the…[Read more]

  • I love seeing all of the posts about “missing two starters.” Am I the only one here that thinks that if those two starters come back and start for this team over those that replaced them that this team will take a huge step backwards? Is there some bizarro world where Devian Smith is NOT a better player than Rollie that I am not privy too? Or…[Read more]

  • I’m sorry but if you watched that game last night and think Rollie should start over Smith, then you need to have your eye examined. Smith is a better defender. Better passer by a mile! At least as good an outside shooter. Better penetrator and finisher. This also goes with Keita over Lovering. Although the spark off the bench concept is…[Read more]

  • This team is horrible defensively. I do not care how much you think Smith is better than Larry. The proof is on the court and it has been 2.5 years of solidly crappy defense. If you are comparing Smith’s recruiting to Larry’s, it stinks. His defense to Larry’s, it stinks. This team will not be better next year. So that will be 4 straight…[Read more]

I didn’t realize how young our OL is. Need a few depth guys there. Also need a corner or two and one QB. Overall, if we can stay relatively healthy, this will be a very good team next season. With all that has and is happening with Arizona, I think we have a real shot at winning the Big 12 and making the playoffs!

  • I found this hire to be quite odd. His best season at SJSU was 7-6. He is from Dick Tomey’s coaching tree so there is that effect here but it seems to be an economy choice on an up and coming program. Has there been any word on Fifita staying to following Fish up to UW?

You don’t need athleticism to shoot free throws. You can also make a similar argument when it comes to playing defense. Lack of athleticism is a recruiting thing which lands solely at the feet of our coach. The issues with player minutes and combinations land solely at the feet of our coach.

In Larry’s third season we went 21-12 and made the…[Read more]

  • I also don’t think they will be immune from all of the coaching changes going on right now. Fish might not even be there next year when this all gets settled.

Meh. I wish him well in the ACC at Cal and their cross country road trips!

  • Exactly. I do not see Fafita as an NFL prospect at all. He is smaller than Kyler Murray and has half the speed.

  • I will be shocked if Fafita is as effective next year as he was this year. I think he kind of snuck up on folks this season.

  • Here is what I see: We are 2-2. In our two wins we outshot our opponents 50% to 35% from the field, 44% to 28% from 3, and were only out rebounded by 7 total boards in both games combined. In our two losses, we were outshot by our opponents 55% to 41% from the field, 48% to 29% from 3, and were outrebounded by 12 total boards in both games…[Read more]
