  • I think there are pros and cons of Ludwig. I have been one who has seen the good and bad of his abilities over the years. I would say that this year is probably his best accomplishment. He got us to an 8-4 record largely with Bryson Barnes as our QB. Don’t get me wrong. I love Bryson and I love his story but he is NOT a P5 level QB by any…[Read more]

  • I also don’t think it is “bashing” the Big 12 when fans on here are lamenting the destruction of one of the most storied athletic conferences in the country. Would any Ute fan want to stay in the PAC 12 as it was previously constituted over the Big 12? Hell yes they would! That is not a knock on the Big 12 but I do say that I find their fans to…[Read more]

Tim Patrick is a lot faster than Vele. Or he runs better routes in order to get open more. Either way, he gets separation and Vele typically does not. Also, while at Utah, Tim had much less QB talent playing with him so it is hard to compare. The real question is what would Tim look like with Rising throwing to him? I think much better than…[Read more]

  • A lot??? I must have missed that.

  • Rick replied to the topic Vele leaning… in the forum Football 1 year ago

I love Vele but he is not an NFL caliber receiver. He does not have the speed and his size advantage in college will not play as well in the pros. He is not a guy who uses his size much in his play on the field.

  • Given how quick these figures came out after he announced on a weekend makes them seem like pure speculation with nothing backing them.

  • How can anyone know what amount of NIL money has been offered to Cam for next season? This seems like pure speculation at this point. Am I missing something here?

  • Rick replied to the topic Thought U would want to see this… in the forum Football 1 year ago

Exactly. If Lincoln Riley is successful next season I could see him bolting to the NFL and if he fails I can see them firing him. Not a good ship to jump on.

In a rain game, I hope we concentrate on stopping their run game as priority #1. Keep all passes in front of you and hope they make mistakes with the ball in the wet weather. Offensively we MUST run the football. If we can’t run the ball, we are toast.

Does Johnson’s move to safety next year mean Vaki is moving to offense exclusively or does it mean that Bishop will enter the draft?

  • As much as I dislike Williams, he is NOT USC’s problem. Last I checked, averaging 31 points per game in their 3 losses is enough to win most games. It is the 45 points per game their defense allowed in those same 3 losses that is their problem. Williams makes all the throws. He is very Mahomes-esque in his ability to escape pressure and throw…[Read more]

  • The one team I can see backing up the truck is Texas A&M. They are near a point where jumping from Jimbo is an acceptable financial loss and they have a crap ton of money. Prime would kill it down there with the type of athletes he could attract to a program of that stature.

  • If we think Wilson is our long term solution to the QB position, it may be best to have Cam come back. It would give Wilson a year to observe and learn and then take over. It would probably mean that Rose bolts and Johnson maybe tries another position but so be it.

I feel really good with Nate Ritchie in at safety if Bishop can’t play in the first half Saturday. I thought we didn’t miss a beat when Bishop went out. Ritchie is a baller! I don’t hold much hope on our appeal with Bishop but our depth at safety is solid, especially considering Tao can play safety if needed as well.

  • Rick started the topic RB Pass Protection in the forum Football 1 year, 1 month ago

I have noticed pretty much all season but especially recently with Glover that our RBs have been really poor at pass protection. I am shocked to see it since our RB coach, Quinton Ganther, was an absolute beast at pass protection as a Ute and in the NFL. If Ludwig is as hell bent as he seems to be about making Nate be a pocket passer, then this…[Read more]

Just looking at common opponents UCLA beat SDSU 35-10 and Oregon State beat SDSU 26-9. Based on our game with UCLA last week, I see a very tight defensive game in the 17-14, 21-17 range for the Utes. We cannot have turnovers and our defense or special teams probably needs to make a score but I think it is a game we can win.

I used to be a loyal listener to Spence but his political opinions and paranoid COVID rants forced me to turn him off. He used to have a great show but he has become a complete ass.

  • I think USC will beat Colorado much worse than Oregon did. Do you think they want to leave any doubts in the voters minds like they did last week at ASU? They know they need to run the score up on the Buffs to move back up in the polls. If Travis Hunter doesn’t play I see something like the Dolphins/Broncos game last Sunday.

I agree. Why are we not trying out some of these freshman RBs that everyone has been so excited about? You can test them out and still keep their redshirts.
