I didn’t realize how young our OL is. Need a few depth guys there. Also need a corner or two and one QB. Overall, if we can stay relatively healthy, this will be a very good team next season. With all that has and is happening with Arizona, I think we have a real shot at winning the Big 12 and making the playoffs!

  • I found this hire to be quite odd. His best season at SJSU was 7-6. He is from Dick Tomey’s coaching tree so there is that effect here but it seems to be an economy choice on an up and coming program. Has there been any word on Fifita staying to following Fish up to UW?

You don’t need athleticism to shoot free throws. You can also make a similar argument when it comes to playing defense. Lack of athleticism is a recruiting thing which lands solely at the feet of our coach. The issues with player minutes and combinations land solely at the feet of our coach.

In Larry’s third season we went 21-12 and made the…[Read more]

  • I also don’t think they will be immune from all of the coaching changes going on right now. Fish might not even be there next year when this all gets settled.

Meh. I wish him well in the ACC at Cal and their cross country road trips!

  • Exactly. I do not see Fafita as an NFL prospect at all. He is smaller than Kyler Murray and has half the speed.

  • I will be shocked if Fafita is as effective next year as he was this year. I think he kind of snuck up on folks this season.

  • Here is what I see: We are 2-2. In our two wins we outshot our opponents 50% to 35% from the field, 44% to 28% from 3, and were only out rebounded by 7 total boards in both games combined. In our two losses, we were outshot by our opponents 55% to 41% from the field, 48% to 29% from 3, and were outrebounded by 12 total boards in both games…[Read more]

One of my biggest issues with Smith’s teams at Utah is their horrible perimeter defense. ASU shot 50% from the field and 43% from three. Spacing, rotation, and effort were all lacking last night. On offense, I am not even sure what we are running most of the time. Where was Madsen all night? Where was any semblance of an offense that got our…[Read more]

  • I look back at the WRs we had on the ’08 team. I would kill to have that crew today. How did we go from that to what we have had here the past few years?

  • Rick replied to the topic Jonah Elliss Declares for NFL Draft in the forum Football 1 year ago

Relative to hype on Mikey, he was underwhelming. Look at his stats. 261 total yards receiving. 4.4 yards avg punt return. 20 yards avg. kick off return. Zero touchdowns. Zero. How is that not underwhelming considering he was hyped as the best WR recruit we have had in years and the second coming of Covey? I found him to be very pedestrian and…[Read more]

I think you will see Tao move to safety. This is a pretty good looking starting team. I worry about depth, especially after this season. Hopefully we will start seeing some fruits from the portal very soon!

Best of luck to Johan! He caught a break this season with all of the DE injuries and he made the best of it. Given all of the injuries this team faced this season, I do not blame any player who has next level talent to leave for the league. You never know when you will be the next injured player.

As for the transfers, very few of them…[Read more]

Texas could have been called for holding on almost every pass play. I saw several UW players getting choke held and they called nothing. Do not complain about a questionable PI call in this game when Texas got away with murder in the trenches all night.

  • Are you serious? JJ is a big back who does not use his size. He lacks vision. He has very limited lateral movement. He runs high which usually contributes to his fumbling issues. JJ is not a top 10 running back in Utah history and I would probably say he is not even a top 20 running back. I respect him switching positions and I do believe he…[Read more]

  • Rick replied to the topic NIL Valuation vs Actual Earnings in the forum Misc 1 year ago

The one thing that I question with all of these seemingly inflated figures is where did all of this money all of a sudden come from? Was all of this money just waiting in the wings ready to be spent once NIL came about? Are companies cutting back their normal ad spends and sponsorships they did prior to NIL? I am not seeing any of that and so I…[Read more]

He seems to be very skilled at entry passing, which is NOT a strong capability on this team so far this season and I like his quickness. His shot scares me a little but so too does Rollie’s. I am just glad to see we have a quick, athletic point which will help us down the stretch. It is one of this team’s most glaring weakness and gets exposed…[Read more]

It may also be a function of him not being able to perform at the combine or pro day due to his injury. Not sure but that would make some sense to me.

  • It’s funny to think that he would not have even been a starter this season if O’Toole and Fillinger were healthy.

  • Best of luck to him. Hope he gets drafted.
