I wish I knew how to read this, but my knee jerk reaction is that after reading it, Whitt is not planning on retiring at the end of this season. (Which is too bad IMO.)
But, maybe not. And at minimum because the incoming OC would know that Scalley is the soon to be boss, maybe some OC’s would consider Utah that wouldn’t otherwise?

It’s true, Whittingham gambled on Rising and it failed specatularly.
Personally, I’m good with the gamble. If Rising had stayed healthy this year, it could have been an incredible ride. However, not only did it turn out to be a bad gamble, it was handled in the worst way. Now that we have seen what Rose can do, it seems as though he should have been QB2 from the get go. (And credit to Rose, he was far better than I expected.)
Moreover, both Cam and Rose played for extended periods of time on season ending injuries, which in each case ensured a loss. That’s not just dumb, that’s reckless.
I love Whitt and am grateful for all the incredible years he gave us. But he has broken our offense beyond what he can repair. And while Rising was the catalyst that brought the issue to the surface, the issue is and has always been Whitt.

This is two games now where they kept playing QBs that had already incurred season ending injuries. WTH?!?! This is unacceptable for so many reasons.

Brutal. Did the injury occur during the game? And if so, when?

I like the rivalry with BYU too and want to keep it.
Why? Because it’s not just another game to either team or fanbase. It’s a game that no matter what else is going on, we care about it, and they care about it too.
This year has sucked, but if we had won the BYU game, I could have ended the season feeling warm and cozy that at least we took care of BYU. (And how great would it have been to beat BYU during one of our crappiest years while this has been one of their best years?)
While losing on Saturday was probably the most angry and unhappy I have ever been after a game, I felt those feelings because the game mattered to me, and I desperately wanted Utah to win.
I would like to continue playing games that matter, no matter the outcome. So bring on BYU every year. We won’t win them all, but heaven help me, I will love and relish every win we get over those guys.

Tony, your time is precious, and you have zero obligations to waste your time with giving trolls a second chance. Hammer away. I love what you have created here and completely support / trust your decisions in that regard.

Aloha: If Kyle was a young coach, I could maybe see your point, and to be honest, I think it’s what Utah already did with Kyle many years ago. Utah gave Kyle a long leash and despite some bumps, let him build a stellar program over a long period of time.
But Kyle’s a coach that has repeatedly already said is close to retirement. Given how abysmal this year has been, given that we already have a new head coach in waiting, why not try something new instead of trying to milk the last few drops out of a coach that honestly looks pretty done to me.
Besides, everyone knows Kyle isn’t going to get fired. The U can’t afford it. What the debate is, is if we think Kyle should retire of his own free will and accord. Personally, I think Kyle should step away before he tarnishes his record further. However, the choice will be his.

Agree Proud Ute.
While pride may keep Whitt wanting to stick it out a little longer, I hope he will find more pride in setting Scalley up for success. I think our team and program are still quite good and if the right moves are made, we could bounce back quickly. But Whitt as it is will be an impediment to those changes, and the longer he sticks around, the worse of a position I think Scalley will start from.

I really had hoped the crazy on Mike would win out, and he would go for the knockout (even if it meant risking him being knocked out instead). But nope. I’m not sure if it was his plan all along to just stand there and cash a check, or if he got scared once in the ring with a guy half his age, but it was lame.

In double checking the account, it appears the post legitimately came from Brandon Roses mom. However, it also appears she took the post down and this post is now there:
“No one knew the extent of Brandon’s injury until Monday afternoon! Brandon had pain during game and decided to play through it. The training staff has been nothing but supportive and we appreciate it.”
Essentially, Rose’s mom is saying don’t blame the coaches / team. Which if I was Rose, is what I would want her to say too.
But as a fan, I don’t think that lets the team coaches and medical staff off the hook. Rose had a season ending injury and not only did they not recognize it as such, they insisted on playing an injured player that had become ineffective (which cost us the game).
