I still appreciate what Cam did for us 2 and 3 years ago.

That being said, the last two years were probably enough. I mean if he were 100% AND was here playing for the love of the game (and not a big NIL payday) so his focus was on LEADING the team then that would be a thing.

But that doesn’t appear to be reality. So no. It’s an interesting…[Read more]

  • NIL and the transfer portal combined with the absurd conference realignments have killed the joy of this for many. Honestly, I’m at the point where I think we are (over)due for college sports to be cut out of the University system. We don’t have student athletes like before…there were always issues, but now they are fully exposed and blown up…[Read more]

  • agreed there are deep issues. But like the Houston game…that would have shifted with even a minor nudge. Thinking we might have survived the ASU or TCU games isn’t a stretch.

Doesn’t mean we’d be a good team. Only that our D and a tiny bit more O would have shifted the outcomes of those two games. That being said…we are clearly suffering…[Read more]

  • I think a second strong RB nets us 1-2 more games.

  • Can’t help but remember the movie Draft Day.

  • To be fair, the HC is the common denominator for whatever happens on every team…and every HC can be seen has being the source of every issue if they are around long enough. Seems like the only way to avoid being the common denominator would be to leave halfway through the season.

None of which is a defense of Kyle’s decisions about Cam this…[Read more]

  • agreed but that’s a mighty big IF at this point. IF we had a lot it would have created a redzone offense. But we apparently have none of those things…so far.

  • RUUTES replied to the topic Should Whitt stay or go? in the forum Football 2 months, 1 week ago

If Whitt leaves, I don’t think it will help us. CFB has changed and it’s kind of an ugly greedy gross thing these days with few things left that defined the early Whitt era. But I don’t see anyone radically better in the wings waiting to jump into his shoes.

If he wants to leave though I won’t blame him at all. We just won’t be getting better…[Read more]

  • RUUTES replied to the topic Booooooo in the forum Football 2 months, 1 week ago

I’m not for booing our kids or the coaches. But refs…yeah sometimes those guys need a serious call out.

  • I’d like to see more 5-10y TE passes and more screen passes (which I normally hate) to get the ball out of Wilson’s hands faster. I’d like to see another RB carry the ball 10-15 times and not hate life…I don’t care which one but someone has to start developing to back up Bernard.

I’d like to see the Oline step up and block. Wilson cannot…[Read more]

I think the main goals for this year are about 4 weeks behind us at this point. So changing some stuff up and seeing what happens with some change won’t really make things worse. After last week I saw us winning maybe 1 more game…with this change I don’t think that changes…and if it does how much worse can it be? let him have his shot.

  • RUUTES replied to the topic Ludwig in the forum Football 2 months, 2 weeks ago

Ludwig seems able to design his plays for 1 QB. And if anything changes he seems lost. If we have a BJ or a Cam and they are solid and healthy then his plan moves forward. But he doesn’t seem to adapt well to a change in the starter. he responds by dialing it all the way back to ultra pasteurized vanilla then trying to seem tricky by tossing…[Read more]

  • RUUTES replied to the topic QB2? in the forum Football 2 months, 3 weeks ago

is the Utah Offensive Playbook that difficult? Honest question cuz aside from boneheaded play calls that achieve nothing I haven’t seen it since 2002?

  • I don’t see Cam coming back in at 100%. he really hasn’t played except two half scrimmage games in 2+ years. He’s got damage to so many places. He’s an asset if he’s fully back but there’s also the future and team development to consider now.

Any Given Sunday kinda scenario…could I see him letting the rookie shine and develop and then…[Read more]

  • RUUTES replied to the topic QB2? in the forum Football 2 months, 3 weeks ago

I’m really curious why Huard basically gets no mention. Given how highly touted both he and Rose were coming into the year they both seem to have dropped off a huge amount with Rose seemingly ignored as a tool at QB3 and Huard not even brought up by the coaches as far as I understand. Is there an issue there? It can’t be the playbook…every QB…[Read more]

  • RUUTES replied to the topic Thank you, Cam Rising in the forum Football 2 months, 3 weeks ago

I am grateful for some of the most exciting games I can remember helmed by Cam. He was a true baller. Injuries and time eventually take all players. He did a great job and will be remembered well. I hope he somehow remains part of the game and the team (coaching if he’s inclined).

  • appears IW is our starting this week and going forward unless something changes now (per the announcement). I’m ready to root for the team going forward with the understanding and expectations set around having a FRESHMAN QB who is developing and has potential. I don’t expect him to perform miracles. Just to show up and lead as well as he can…[Read more]

  • I’m not saying he has the “right” CFB is a business now (Moreso than ever before) so no coach is safe if the college wants to be competitive or whatever it is CFB is trying to have these days.

…but I will say getting rid of him isn’t a great look and that it’s just a pointless move unless you have an actual 5-star coach wanting to come…[Read more]

  • 3-3

I see us winning TCU, Houston and probably CO

I have seen no reason this year to be optimistic about the other three games. Sadly.

And the emotional energy of playing BYU anywhere seems to have fizzled out for us over the last few years…being in a different conference, having the series interrupted, not even wanting to play them and now…[Read more]

  • Whitt is a good coach who was a great coach. the game has changed. he hasn’t really. Scalley is his mentee and I’m not sure I see a radical change there.

And…I’m not sure it matters because Urban Meyer and Whitt came along as the right people at the right time in the right era…and that was like winning the lottery back to back.

    I do not…[Read more]
