It’s less about Jerome Myles and more a statement of where the program is that gets people excited to land him.

Red Rhino replied to the topic Who will be Utah's leading receiver in 2024? in the forum Football 4 months, 2 weeks ago
Good point about the off-season Utah.
I think we will see utah throw it more this year than Whit ever has thrown it. Part of that will be because our RBs may not be elite this year. Does Cam have it in him to average 333 yards per game this year? Not sure but the higher throwing average and lesser pass defense in the B12 may make it possible.

Red Rhino replied to the topic Who will be Utah's leading receiver in 2024? in the forum Football 4 months, 2 weeks ago
Last year Washington threw for 5155 yards and rushed for 1982. They ran approximately 42% and passed about 58%. They had two receivers with over 1000 yards in Odunze (1640) and Polk (1159).
Based on typical playoff team numbers, and if we project to be a playoff team, I believe we need at least 4000 yards passing and 2000 yards rushing this…[Read more]

You seem like a very angry and disturbed individual Matt. I hope that you can find some peace.

I am an active Latter-Day Saint and I am so embarrassed by many of my fellow members like Matt. This is why I can’t bring myself to cheer for my own church’s school. I have heard them judge non members very harshly for drinking alcohol or swearing and yet they continually stir up contention and break the first and second commandment without a…[Read more]

Huard had some really bad games when he started for Washington, especially the Apple Cup. He also had some really amazing throws and has legit arm talent. Most of his bad decision making seems to have come from inexperience and forcing throws. Hopefully he can get those mistakes cleaned up when the game slows down for him.

I really hope that Cam doesn’t get injured, but realistically, even with a considerably healthy season, the chances that he misses two-three games are pretty high. I honestly hope that Wilson is the guy, but there seems to be a lot of questions revolving around his surgery. I believe that we brought in Huard because the coaches think Wilson won’t…[Read more]

Red Rhino replied to the topic Which game are you most looking forward to this fall and why? in the forum Football 6 months, 2 weeks ago
Don’t know why, but I always liked OK State. They seem similar to Utah, including a coach who has been at the same program as long as Kyle. Mike Gundy vs Kyle should be a lot of fun!

Can’t stop thinking about football, so thought I would give everyone a chance to share their pre-season Ute Football Awards. Here are the categories with my answers:
Most Valuable Player: Cameron Rising

Red Rhino replied to the topic How do you feel about the hype going into the 2024 season? in the forum Football 7 months, 2 weeks ago
For me personally, hype sets me up for a big mental fall if we lose. It usually takes me a week to recover. However, for a program, hype is terrific. Hype helps with recruiting, with tv ratings, with accolades and with rankings. For years Notre Dame , USC, and Michigan lived off of hype generated from previous years of success. It used to drive…[Read more]

I’ll be interested to see if the RB’s will improve with a more dangerous throw game. Hopefully, they will see less stacked boxes.

Red Rhino replied to the topic Look at the Stones on Utah! in the forum Basketball (Men) 10 months ago
There are teams, such as UCLA and USC who may play at a stadium other than their own but are not on the road. That would be an awtheay game but not a road game. In the case of Utah @ UCLA, perhaps Miami is saying this because it is a win outside of the Wasatch front area. 🤔

Red Rhino replied to the topic Guys. I hope you really enjoy this year in the forum Football 11 months, 1 week ago
I’m not sure he said he isn’t a fan of NIL or the transfer portal. He said he was a fan of the players making money. I believe he said he was not a fan of the lack of control of NIL and the portal. He has also said multiple times that this is the most fun he’s ever had coaching.

Red Rhino replied to the topic I want WRs that can catch passes and get open in the forum Football 11 months, 3 weeks ago
We should have the best RB’s knocking down the door to play in a scheme that features them. Where are all high profile RBs knocking down the door? That’s someone we should be paying top dollar for since our offense is built around the RB.

Red Rhino replied to the topic If it is going to take a huge NIL offer to get JJ back in the forum Football 1 year ago
Maybe I’m getting old. I don’t remember JJ getting injured last year. This year it was the same injury all year and he couldn’t heal because he was playing through it.

I agree that the stats don’t back up my comment. We have to remember he was injured all year. It’s less a matter of stats for me and more about the eye test.

I respectfully disagree. If healthy, he is an elite level RB. Our offense needs someone who can break tackles. We also need to set a precedent of blocking teams from coming after our best players.

A contract is a legal agreement, so college athletes need to decide if they are children with no consequences or adults with legal ramifications for breaking contracts.
Like coaches, player’s existing NIL contracts should have a time, (such as four years) attached to the contract and should have to be bought out if the player breaches the…[Read more]

Red Rhino replied to the topic Most overhyped teams in the PAC? in the forum Football 1 year, 1 month ago
If it is true that we were overhyped, we should see it as a great compliment. Typically that is a sign of an elite program. We have come a long way since the days when we often lost to teams the likes of UTEP and New Mexico.
