salty-ute replied to the topic Tim Brando's Rant on CFB Inequality & Conference Perception in the forum Football 5 years ago
I don’t like this suggestion because it is so discriminant against G5 schools. It leaves a lot of FBS teams at a huge scheduling disadvantage, and widens the gap between the “G5 and P5” schools. The whole P5 designation is something fabricated by the powerhouses to gain advantage. The NCAA recognizes no division between them. We don’t have to…[Read more]

This is a fantastic article. The author really went above and beyond when researching Huntley and did his homework. He even provided clips where he demonstrates Huntley’s skill he’s highlighting.

salty-ute replied to the topic Uh oh. Jordan Love is still the best QB in the state. in the forum Football 5 years, 1 month ago
If anyone drafts Jordan Love in the first round, they’re out of their mind because of how many good other QB options there are this year that haven’t looked awful against decent competition. He has looked completely clueless out there at times. He has a good arm but he has seriously regressed this season.

Cool. Tyler reminds me a ton of Russel Wilson. Very accurate, very efficient and capable of extending the play with athleticism.

salty-ute replied to the topic Which is better, winning the Rose Bowl or getting blown out in a playoff game? in the forum Football 5 years, 1 month ago
I’d much rather win a bowl game than lose a bowl game. The way I see it, Peach Bowl = Rose Bowl. I’ll take the W, whichever it is.

Love has regressed into hot garbage under Anderson. No way he’s 15. I think every one of BYUs QBs has played better than him this season.
His stat line against FREAKING WYOMING last week:
C / A YDS TD INT QBR
12/28 53 0 1 6.1 -

Same concept with Jaylon. I’m pretty sure there was not a single target Johnson’s way with the exception of the over-thrown deep ball.

I think the media has decided to throw Harlan’s name in the UCLA AD job consideration. I’m not sure there’s any real merit to this claim.
Edit: It looks like maybe UCLA fans are not very fond of Harlan… So I’m going to go out on a limb and say that there is very little credibility to these rumors. Seems like even the fans commenting on this…[Read more]

salty-ute replied to the topic I will be so annoyed if this is what the CFP rankings look like tonight. in the forum Football 5 years, 1 month ago
From mostly an unbiased non-fanatical source, Utah currently has a 23% chance of making the CFP. The problem is, the selection Committee is much more biased than statistical probability.

I think that a 1 loss SEC non-champion typically wouldn’t make it over another 1 loss P5 champ. But then again, you have the whole ‘quality loss’ BS. Also, Alabama has a greater chance of losing again – as opposed to LSU – because their remaining schedule is tougher. If LSU/Bama wins out and goes to the playoff, I’m doubtful the committee would…[Read more]

Lol I thought the same thing. Like he seriously thinks Utah’s secondary is ‘just good, not great’? Between all of our DBs, there are 4 NFL guys in Johnson, Guidry, Blackmon, and Burgess… Not to mention they rank in the top of the country in most measurable categories. How about this one that specifically points to the secondary’s ability to cover?

YES we will go for it on 4th down. Washington’s 4th down defense is 120th in the country, while Utah’s 4th down offense is 30th.

This article is the factual data that supports the conclusion that Utah does well in recruiting. Here’s some evidence that shows that your star counting approach to qualifying recruiting is idiotic.
