You’re misunderstanding. Before the UF scheduling, Utah only had contract with BYU through ’24. They moved those two games from the UF years to ’25/’26, then added two more seasons on for ’27,’28

No, the contract with BYU only extended to ’24

That’s what I would expect.
I’m not sure on what real authority that Bartle can claim that it’s BYU that Utah gets rid of.I’m sure that after the NIU & Idaho State games, Harlan saw that the because of crappy attendance of hosting an FCS school, it isn’t worth the lost revenue and payout to have a cupcake.Edit: This is the important part from…[Read more]

What needs to happen is the California schools schedule one of the opposite division teams as a non-conference opponent if they want to play them every year. The game does not count for their conference record. Everyone else plays only 3 inter-divisional games, and the teams rotate… As I see it already, the PAC gives an unfair advantage to…[Read more]

I think the ref did a spectacular job on this one. I saw a fan video that was taken from the opposite side of the goal line. You couldn’t ever see the ball cross the plane. The receiver left his feet from the endzone, caught the ball in the air and landed on a knee with the ball likely short of the goal line… Too tough to tell even with the…[Read more]

Not surprised about Huntley, he took a beating this weekend. Put EVERYTHING out there for the team.

salty-ute replied to the topic The “weak o-line” provided for 247 yards on the ground. in the forum Football 5 years, 3 months ago
Most all of these yards were either outside runs where speed got the edge or scrambles where Tyler Huntley miraculously avoided a sack and made a fantastic athletic play. Pass protection was AWFUL. Huntley got hit on almost every throw. Extremely porous. Run blocking was not only bad on individual matchups, the blocking wasn’t assignment sound a…[Read more]

salty-ute replied to the topic In the last 6 games between Utah & USC, the team that has started 14-0 has lost! in the forum Football 5 years, 3 months ago
This is a very deceiving stat because it’s only happened twice… so basically 2 of the 6 meetings, the team who took a big early lead lost.

That’s fair, but I do believe BYU is a better defense than Stanford. I don’t think he changed significantly from week 2 to 3, BYU just played better defense. BYU definitely scouted Slovis and saw that he stared down receivers and made him pay, Standford D looked like they were on their heels all game. They also had very little film on him. Utah…[Read more]

Slovis is a Freshman and his weaknesses were displayed against BYU’s defense. He’s not going to somehow become a different player over 1 week. I expect him to learn from his mistakes and be more cautious throwing the football over the middle of the field or forcing it into coverage. However, I don’t expect him to completely change his bad habits -…[Read more]

salty-ute replied to the topic Question: Utah defense scheming v. USC in the forum Football 5 years, 3 months ago
I think the main difference being that BYU ran a Cover 3 under zone that allowed them to cover the flats and spy the middle of the field where all 3 picks were… I’m sure Utah will still run a nickel package but coverage/blitz, and zone schemes are a different thing entirely.
I think it would be foolish for Utah to run only their base man…[Read more]

Agreed… I’m struggling to make much sense of it. Lisk didn’t look any better in game than what we’ve seen from Shelley. I almost feel like you have more to lose by pushing Shelley back in the depth chart as opposed to letting the former Walk-on stay 3rd string.
When you say ‘more than just football reasons’, is it an attitude thing or am I…[Read more]

Any thoughts on Lisk as #2 after seeing him? Somebody claimed that Shelley asked the coaches to put Lisk @ #2 so he could see some game time reps. Wondering what the future looks like for shelley?
A somewhat related note, Indiana’s starter (Penix) went out with injury two weeks ago and Tuttle has seen the field for garbage time in 2 games. His…[Read more]

Not extremely surprised. If you’ve watched him much in spring ball, you’d know he’s pretty good. Shelly probably has more athletic and running ability. But I’ve been impressed with Lisk over the last couple years with my limited exposure. He has a good arm and makes good reads. I think it’ll be really interesting to see what the QB competition…[Read more]

Bama has 3 hard games this year: TAMU, LSU and Auburn. TAMU and Auburn looked good but not great this week. The rest of their schedule is a cake walk.
I think Utah’s schedule is about like Alabama’s, and I’d prefer it that way, ideally playing 8 conference games.

Edit: also, he has Oregon St. at 0-3 with 2 losses to Hawaii this week lol
