SalUteopia started the topic Does a loss against OSU virtually eliminate us from the P12 CCG race? in the forum Football 12 months ago
Let me preface by saying that I’m not implying that we will lose on Friday. I’m just pondering.. so.. IF we lose against OSU, are we practically out of the P12 CCG race? Sure, theoretically speaking, we can still win out, or there could be a scenario where a 3-loss team makes it, but those chances are bleak.
And yes, I know games are not pla…[Read more]

Great observation, @Proud. This happened quite a bit last year too, and I think KW addressed a related question at a press conference, but I could be wrong about this. I guess it comes down to risk / reward, and looks like they’re fine with the (calculated) risk. But yes, it makes me very nervous sometimes, especially in low-scoring games.

SalUteopia replied to the topic This year is as good a year as any to crash the playoffs in the forum Football 12 months ago
I have been thinking about this. The season is still young, but no team has looked invincible. It would be a great year for under-the-radar teams like Utah to make a push for the CFP, but we’re not there (YET). Here’s to hoping it all comes together!

Fair. Agree that we would not keep running up the middle if we were trailing.

Agreed, @Central. UCLA could’ve easily put up 21 despite the stellar D. It doesn’t take away from our D. And yes, the 2 dropped passes were potential TDs, but there were 5-6 in total.

Not sure what to call the dropped passes, but it’s possible the UCLA players were too jittery, so in that sense they were *not* unforced. But my point is, our D could perform at a stellar level and it’s possible that UW, USC, UO could still score 24-28 points. The question is can our O score 30 pts?

Our D played lights out against UCLA, no question about it. But UCLA also had some unforced errors that limited their scoring to 7. I rewatched the highlights, and noticed at least 2 dropped passes that could’ve gone for TDs. Again, this is not a knock on our D, they were amazeballs!!! More an observation that on a different day, we could’ve sti…[Read more]

SalUteopia replied to the topic Who is the best team in the Pac-12? in the forum Football 12 months ago
Based on the record and SOS, I’d say Utah, WSU, UO. Based on eye-test, UO, UW, WSU/OSU. Based on who’d beat us if we played them today, I’d put UO, UW, USC, WSU, OSU in front of us. Overall, I’d say UO, UW at 1a, 1b, with a slight edge to UO because they’re more balanced.

I see an upset brewing. Go scum devils! -

Man, if our O developed a pulse and D continued to play elite, we’d have a decent chance of beating USC.

USC towel waving coach is super annoying.

Agreed, Miami. USC is still playing their 2022 defense.

Do you wish more was shared about the non-season ending injuries?
Yes, fans deserve to know more
No, it’s a competitive advantage and also a private issue
Middle-ground, at least share player availability if not injury specifics -

It almost seemed like Cam’s coy response to the huge cheer from the fans, so they very well could be goofing around.

Did anybody notice Cam’s walk/trot after his brief throw practice by the NE corner during the Weber St game? He didn’t look in pain, but something about his jog didn’t feel right. Is it just me, or did anybody else feel the same?
Obviously can’t put much stock into this brief appearance, but just curious what other’s thought. -

Yep, complete annihilation, but I’m still hoping CU pulls a miracle because I think it will help us down the stretch.

Fair, 98. But what if I told you they win UO, USC, OSU, but lose ASU, UA, WSU (and us of course)? I know this won’t happen, but I’d love for some combo of this to happen, so it best helps our P12 CCG chances. Regardless, CU is going down. Unfortunately, Coach Prime bluster will continue.

I get that we control our destiny (as of now), and of course I would love to win every game. But realistically speaking, I see at least 3 conference losses this season, so would be great to get any external help we can get. Much like OSU’s and UW’s final-week wins in 2022 paved the way for us to make it to the P12 CCG.
