Agreed, @Backer. Chances are better than I thought at the beginning of the season. I feel this will be the easiest of our remaining away games, relatively speaking. Alas, I still don’t think we pull it off given our offensive woes and away game record.

I don’t think Cam is flashy enough for Riley (or USC for that matter). I can see someone like FL or ND make a run at him, though.

You can have those guys AND Cam, Kuithe, etc. It’s not a mutually exclusive type of scenario.

Out of the 3 remaining away games, USC is the most winnable IMO, even more so than UA. However, any team with a prolific O and quick-scoring ability is always going to be a handful. True, you do build for the future in ways you outlined, no argument there.
With the Cam situation, I feel the drama is being amplified by the fans and media. As long as it’s not disruptive to the locker room (and I trust Whitt with this), Cam is a fairly safe bet for 2024.

Not necessarily arguing for bringing Cam back, but the ifs and buts also apply to the alternative situation. I also don’t fully agree with the ‘build for future’ argument as it applies to CFB. My initial reaction is ‘no’, but if you remove emotions out of the equation, having Cam (and Kuithe) back would significantly increase our chances of winning the new BigXII and making the playoffs. Of course, this assumes both Cam and Kuithe can play at the same / near-the-same level of 2022.

Yeah, it seems like a CFB-wide issue. And I’m guessing even that 56% number is propped up by the elite teams. Somehow I feel, and this might be a homer take, that Utah is capable of getting over this hump, but for whatever reasons it hasn’t happened (yet).

The real question to me is: what causes the away performance to be so different? Is it the prep, the lack of familiarity, the hostile environment (let’s be honest, there are maybe 2-3 hostile environments in P12)?
