Yes!! A few more transfers and we are back in business.
I think this is a good start to the offseason.

SantaVaca started the topic So you have to think the first move Craig Smith made was all about PR in the forum Basketball (Men) 2 years, 5 months ago
With Marco coming back, Craig makes it look like he is in charge and knows exactly who should come back next year and who should be shown the door. His first step was bringing back the 2nd best player on this years team. Keeps him from looking like he can’t keep his players.
If guys all of a sudden started announcing that they’re entering the…[Read more] -

SantaVaca replied to the topic Atrocious basketball until the final 4 minutes in the forum Basketball (Men) 2 years, 6 months ago
This team is so close! Tonight was just another close loss that woulda / shoulda / coulda been a win.
Next year all these close games will finally go our way. I still believe.

SantaVaca started the topic Break up the Utes! 2 straight road wins in the forum Basketball (Men) 2 years, 6 months ago
If we win 2 of 3 at home next week, we finish 10th.
At least it’s not last place. If we bring back most of these players and add a couple more good transfers, I think we’ll be in good shape next year.

SantaVaca replied to the topic Craig Smith is a very good coach. Next step recruiting. in the forum Basketball (Men) 2 years, 7 months ago
I agree. I don’t know if anybody has noticed but other than the Washington State game, the Utes have come within a few points (even going to 2OT in one game) with nearly every team they’ve played the last month or so.
I think every player could come back if they wanted to. Even though we have so many seniors, Covid gave all of them an extra…[Read more]

SantaVaca started the topic So I went up the bookstore to buy some PAC12 Championship / Rose Bowl gear in the forum Football 2 years, 9 months ago
I was really underwhelmed. All the stuff they have out now is pretty blah. I spoke with someone there and they said they are expecting all the PAC12 championship and Rose Bowl shirts and hoodies to arrive later next week. Something about supply chain issues causing a delay in the shipments
I don’t know if you guys are like me and want to buy a…[Read more] -
SantaVaca started the topic Looks like the lower bowl is sold out for the BYU game. Selling Upper Bowl now in the forum Basketball (Men) 2 years, 9 months ago
So maybe this means that the demand is still there for Utah basketball if they could only put out a good product.
I think the athletic dept needs to get the NIL figured out quickly because I think Smith is a good coach that will do good things, if we give him the resources.
Getting the Huntsman full again and getting us back on top will take 2…[Read more] -
SantaVaca replied to the topic Next Coach? in the forum Football 2 years, 10 months ago
I am 100% in Morgan getting the job. Hopefully Shah is promoted to DC.
Going outside the program would be foolish. The #1 thing Utah football has going for it is the culture. If it ain’t broke, don’t fix it.

SantaVaca started the topic So I know that we still have a lot to play for this year but has anyone started in the forum Football 2 years, 10 months ago
thinking about what we could be building here over the next 2 years???
When FS1 flashed that graphic about how many freshman starters we have, I can’t help but think that maybe we have another special season the next 2 years. What makes this even better is our Home and Home with Florida. Great timing on that part!
At first I didn’t know how to…[Read more] -
SantaVaca replied to the topic Excited for the new Craig Smith era of MBB in the forum Basketball (Men) 2 years, 10 months ago
I went to the game last night and I agree it was definitely time to make the coaching switch. The team looks scrappy and plays hard but I didn’t really see a dominant play out there. Carlson could be great if he could add another 40 lbs. Jenkins and Anthony look athletic and show some promise. Gabe Madsen is the one player that I’m most…[Read more]

SantaVaca replied to the topic USC in the forum Football 2 years, 11 months ago
Ya. I agree. However it was a nice way for Whit to remind USC (and Utah fans for that matter) that USC didn’t just run out of time and that they just came up a little short. It was a blatant signal to show that Utah was the better team and we could have scored more if we wanted to.
I loved that Whit called that play. I think there’s an unw…[Read more]

SantaVaca replied to the topic Good news: PAC12 completely up in the air. in the forum Football 2 years, 11 months ago
I’m watching the UCLA – ASU game and I just don’t see how we can beat either.
Sorry I’ve been so negative but both teams look fast and multi functional. It’s going to take a miracle to beat them.
The good news is we have both at hone and we definitely play better at home so I guess there’s that.

SantaVaca replied to the topic Worth noting: Our two losses are to undefeated opponents. in the forum Football 2 years, 11 months ago
Ya. Me too. I know I’d feel a lot better if we just had an offensive line that would allow us to complete a pass more than 15 yards down the field.
I think all the other stuff would fall in line if we only had a better OLine. Sigh.

SantaVaca replied to the topic Breakdown from each series in the forum Football 2 years, 11 months ago
Yes. I think he should have caught both of the passes back to back in the first half.
If he wants to play in the NFL, he needs to make both of catches. Neither were thrown perfectly but both were catchable.

SantaVaca started the topic So it looks like we start 3 freshman and 1 sophomore on the Oline in the forum Football 2 years, 11 months ago
Maybe we need to keep our expectations in check a little bit this year.
I hope our mistakes are all due to a inexperienced Oline and a inadequate QB because if that’s the case, we’ll be just fine… in a year or two. -
SantaVaca replied to the topic Our season goals are still acheivable in the forum Football 2 years, 12 months ago
Milton, I like the optimism, but a G5 school just lined up and ran right down our throats. What do you think USC, Stanford, and Oregon are going to do to us??
I hope that I’m just being pessimistic and that somehow we learn and fix our mistakes but I’m also willing to admit that maybe our talent level is subpar and we just aren’t very good this…[Read more]

SantaVaca replied to the topic Is there a reason anyone feels like Harding deserves a pass at this point? in the forum Football 2 years, 12 months ago
Ya I’ve lost faith in Harding. Although is it his fault that the play call on 4th and 2 was a run up the middle? That had, at best, a 15 – 20% chance of working in my opinion.
Why not run a sweep or roll Brewer out for a short dump off pass to a TE? Anything but a predictable run up the middle from shotgun would have been better. When we…[Read more]

I hope you’re right. I’ve made it through the 5 stages of grief and I’m looking forward to how they look against SDSU. But I just don’t see how we somehow get stronger and better in 6 days on both the offensive and defensive lines.
I’m still shocked that we looked so bad in both areas. When was the last time, you saw any team – ANY TEAM line…[Read more]

SantaVaca started the topic This loss came down to 3 things in the forum Football 2 years, 12 months ago
Our piss poor offensive line. I made a post after the Weber game that I was really worried about what we were going to do when it’s 3rd and 4 and we need to get a first down to keep a drive going. And those fears were realized last night when we only ran 54 plays because we couldnt convert a 3rd down to save our lives. I thought Brewer looked fine…[Read more]
