I don’t disagree, but do you think Fox or ESPN are going to do them any favors? They left them out in the conference shuffle, so they couldn’t care much less.

However, with WSU/OSU running the conference, couldn’t they put up a fuss and get OSU their preferred slot?

  • It appears DBs was a weakness due to long plays given up. I would say it was 1) we didn’t get enough pressure on some pretty top-notch qbs, 2) those qbs/wrs are some of the top in the nation. We took our licks, but in the big picture wasn’t as bad as it appears. But sometimes if you know you are burnt, PI on purpose! 15 yards is better than…[Read more]

  • And with CU’s D, go for it. They ain’t yanking you – get Vele, McCain, Mikey all over 100 yards! TDs for Suguturaga and King!

    500 yards, 5 TDs, 3 INT – who cares?!

Good read. PAC-mas is over, no desire for Big12-mas, but agree that our reaction is a sigh that we found a landing spot for now. Sadness of a great dozen year relationship being over

  • DataUte replied to the topic Ludwig on Vaki in the forum Football 1 year, 1 month ago

Vaki is open to helping the team, but has said he likes safety. He thought he was being called into playing WR, but RB has been the call. I hope we can improve the offense with other players and let him develop more as a safety which would be a much better option for NFL (longevity, pay).

  • DataUte replied to the topic 5 way tie in the forum Football 1 year, 1 month ago

yep. ESPN FPI puts all of it at 0.1% chance. I think if Oregon loses to ASU, then things start to get interesting (OSU needs to beat UW also otherwise other tiebreakers aren’t in our favor the same way). Arizona has a 0.7% chance, but only has to win out and have Oregon lose both since they have the H2H against OSU. OSU wins out, they are in.

  • Massey gives 75% chance with a 28-21 predicted score

  • Jinx going on here? Who owes who a Coke?! 😉

Utah-CU or UA-ASU … Arizona or Utah will be 8-3, ranked in the 20s; other will be 7-4. ASU will likely be 3-8 (2-6) after losing to Oregon. CU could be 5-6 (2-6) after beating WSU. I think that game is more important to the choice. If CU is fighting to be bowl eligible, ESPN will choose the game even…[Read more]

De Laura? WSU to UA to UU? doubt it, but Fifita is playing well. I would’ve thought he would be out of eligibility.

  • Thanks – that makes sense. I guess ‘who is ready to plug and play’ – get dropped in and do ok (usually those teams have other flaws, like OL, etc., but makes sense). Interesting that it’s possible Arizona might have the top pick and grab Caleb. I think it would be foolish to replace Murray (Riley product) with Caleb – probably same result: flashes…[Read more]

  • I’m just curious about the mentality ‘not NFL prospects’. I think we are talking about likely not first rounders, likely not future starters? Even those that project more 3rd, 4th round and beyond can either 1) develop further and become a future contributor, 2) be a servicable backup, 3) flame out, be a journeyman on practice squads or go to…[Read more]

  • Other Heisman qbs: Jason White, Eric Crouch, Charlie Ward … totally agree that some college ballers are not built for the NFL. Some can have a nice journeyman/backup career and make some money without playing that much. Not the worst gig.

  • DataUte replied to the topic CFP Ranking Theory in the forum Football 1 year, 1 month ago

Yep. And with Mizzou losing, they barely move, but if we lose to UW, we’ll drop out. FSU is clearly over-rated here with one ‘top’ win (LSU) and maybe another in their CCG, but they want FSU to be back. They want Texas to be back, but at least they have Alabama, KSU, KU wins (although it fits to say, well, Alabama was still figuring out QB, so…[Read more]

  • DataUte replied to the topic Sign 'stealing' in the forum Football 1 year, 1 month ago

yeah – agree. I think this could probably work at least at the P5 level. Maybe the super conferences will implement it. Cost and technology make it a little harder, but NFL style could work (even cut it off at X seconds left in the play clock). Then Michigan would screw with the other team’s frequencies at home ;).

  • ooh, good call (perhaps). What an end to their season! But would have H2H over UW, UO, Utah. But if UW ended 8-1, there could be a 3-way tie for 2nd seed between Oregon (or USC), OSU, Ariz at 7-2 (hopefully not – that would mean Utah loses to UW and Arizona). Arizona beat OSU, OSU beat Oregon, Arizona didn’t play Oregon. So, goes to step 2 – not…[Read more]

  • DataUte replied to the topic Sign 'stealing' in the forum Football 1 year, 1 month ago

Electronic recording to match plays with signs ahead of time is a no-no. Knowing if it’s a run or pass even gives the D a huge advantage. As Whitt says though, you’re stupid if it’s stolen. You have to change it up or make it complex enough (for the day/game). The curtain thing some teams do is stupid. Or weird signs. Or three players signing. But…[Read more]

  • I love these scenario ‘what-ifs’. I think it’s covered well and there are still 3 games to play (2 for USC), so lots of permutations. I’m glad we have the H2H over USC (they have to have much more chaos to make it as the 2 seed) and if we don’t get the H2H over UW, it won’t matter. Too bad we lost to both Oregon teams, but good they play each…[Read more]

  • I’m not sure Williams’ college game translates to the pros. Critics have pointed to bad footwork. He is amazing at scrambling, but not sure if pros don’t tackle him faster (and he gets hurt) after too many of those. I also am not sure he can really read a defense and go through progressions rather than running around and finding an open…[Read more]

  • I feel like Barnes is super loyal, but likely will be a backup depending on Rising, Rose decisions along with Howard development and/or Isaac coming in (hopefully we RS him). Barnes could totally find a great starting position in either a ‘lower’ P5 or a better G5 school to continue developing, playing, and putting play on game film. He’s a cult…[Read more]
