  • What’s ironic is the ‘pro-style’ is becoming more simplified except for the best of qbs. So a college system that takes that long to learn rarely actually gets them ready for the pros. All the rage are the Caleb Williams, Bryce Young, Jayden Daniels with ‘playmaking’ abilities. Many offenses are more short passes with occasional deep ball and some…[Read more]

  • Yes, there is a lot more joking mimicry in CFB (parody). Parity? just teasing 😉

  • Juco also a good pipeline into your AAA and AA

  • I also think BYU got 2-3 games of lucky breaks that seem to return to the mean in following years.

Kansas was one of the unluckiest teams and have a Jalon Daniels returning, so they could also be better, but I wouldn’t put them in top 4.

Is grad transfer really a thing anymore? Yes, he graduated, so that’s good (Cam still hasn’t after 7 years!), but before, we thought grad transfer was good because they could play right away. Now, every transfer can play right away, a court ruling I think was stupid and has created a lot of this mess. Want to transfer and get NIL? Great, but you…[Read more]

  • This – testing the market, but down deep, would rather stay if they can get that ‘value’.

  • Some of the stuff he did seemed a little shady and under the table. Def out of the box thinker, but it’s like ‘who do we really want to get into bed with’. I’d say sportswashing (hiding human rights issues with sports funding) and private equity and venture capital will make the NIL environment even worse than it is.

Plus, I think there is a…[Read more]

  • He got offered twice what Utah did. Didn’t quit. Actually, he will come back if the collective matches. They got the NIL offer (sounds like tampering to me), he went back to Utah to show his ‘market’ value and they balked. Maybe it is high or above our valuation or there is trepidation based on this year and some being overpaid, underdelivered,…[Read more]

Depends on if you want to know how it was supposed to work (sponsorship deals because their name, image, or likeness was marketable; revenue sharing from jersey sales with their name, etc.) or how it actually works (pay-to-play, agents; collectives collect money, coaches or athletic dept. kind of have to tell them what can be offered, now…[Read more]

  • Agree on tspp. I think it’s ok to explore a little, kind of feel out if there are better situations/offers after an emotionally charged season. I don’t love it and it does speak to some loyalty, but the team changes so much they might just want to feel heard and get their name out there because they might have a job opportunity too good to pass up…[Read more]

  • That’s a good point. Kiffin and others have hoped it would be after bowl games/CFP, but that is too late to land a spot and get in place to enroll (not like the academic side has really mattered much lately). Maybe they should just have one late spring so they can see how things are going, they finish the school year, then they move during the…[Read more]

This is the new way – mine the G5 for the better players and bring them up to P4 and they compete for 1st team (or start because they already know the system like this case with Beck coming over).

  • DataUte replied to the topic Dampier in the forum Football 1 week, 2 days ago

What was Isaac’s TD/INT ratio? Oh yeah, 10/11. Whit shut that down so fast … wait, no he didn’t. Wilson also didn’t have any rushing TDs.

  • The Detmers do know about INTs and don’t mind them as much 😉

  • I’ve loved my time at Utah. It has been the experience of a lifetime. Having said that, I’m really not that good at my job and seem to drive away 4-star running backs after they don’t develop and get carries. Having said that, you thought I was leaving, but I will be back … ooops, ‘we will be back’ to provide you with easy fodder for your message boards.

  • I thought it was a joke when texted to me, but it showed up on the Utes Athletic and Football Instagram, so it was official. It was really, really weird IMO. Old school looking letterhead? Surprised they didn’t use Papyrus or Comic Sans as the font …

Agree that it was clunky changing from I’m back to We are back. Just odd. Like some PR intern…[Read more]

Love him for what he did for us in the PAC12 CCG years. Don’t love what he did to us the last 2 years, but not his fault for getting injured (and not like he’s going to give NIL money back). If he wants to give an 8th year a go, I wish him the best. I should hope that when he retires from football, he has good opportunities to go into coaching if…[Read more]

  • DataUte replied to the topic Isaac Wilson to BYU? in the forum Football 1 week, 5 days ago

He still needs the kneecap surgery and 2020 Zach ain’t walking through that door. And there aren’t any more Wilsons to chase after. Perhaps he develops more, but I’m fine moving on and getting some transfer portal qbs. I wish Rose stays though.

  • I thought it would be:
    Cam 😉
    +Dampier
    Isaac
    Rose
    Huard
    +2 freshman

JK. But not. For some dreaded feeling, I think it will be Cam, Dampier, 2 freshman. Please be Rose, Dampier, Huard (need a good scout team qb), 2 FR.

No kidding on the conferences. Mississippi St. is #15/16 in SEC and would be #2 in the Big 12.
