The ironic thing about that Whittingham philosophy is that the offensive crap he has put on the field is so riddled with three and outs that his defense is on the field all the time anyway. A fast paced offense certainly wouldn’t be a risk to the defense being on the field too much anymore than what we’ve seen with recent offenses of his.

Whitt hit his ceiling a few years ago. Everything about this team is stale and predictable. Ludwig can’t even spell creativity or misdirection letnise them in designing plays. Scalley’s run defense is as soft as a Minky Couture blanket. My confidence is gone, not just for this season and I worry for the future.

Obviously, I’ll take the win. But, if it ain’t broke, don’t fix it. If the defense shut them down all day, even when Bowman came back in, why in the world would Scalley/Whitt stop doing what was working? It seems if they’d just played the smothering defense they played for 90% of the game that shut them down, we would’ve continued to shut them down. IMO, the obvious difference in the last several minutes of the game that caused the momentum swing was the switch to stupid prevent.

My issue is how much we consistently run into the middle of the line, particularly in 3rd or 4th and short and even my visually impaired grandmother knows what is coming. How about some off tackle or misdirection plays like usc had on him one of their TDs. It was a thing of beauty.
