This is what I’ve got too, with the caveat that one of those W’s could be a 50/50. Either 8-4 or 7-5, which is what I picked pre-season.

The schadenfreude is not wrong, but your category is.

Add in Huntley’s first real DI start, first road game, rivalry game (which is always weird), and the o-line still coming together, and I can see why we didn’t blow them out.

Didn’t Phillips miss 3 of 4 in a pre-season game for the Bears? Thought I heard that somewhere.

Not going to get many callbacks when that happens.

That’s just a school that you don’t say no to when they come knocking.

Amen to that. If my kid was holding a scholarship offer from both schools, as die-hard a fan as I am, I’d be hard pressed to make a case why they should go to Utah.

Win first, style points are a bonus.

I’ve seen all sorts of Utah fans up in arms because Utah hasn’t been “getting respect”.

Reality is that we’ve beaten three truly horrible teams, and one bad team. Save the griping about respect until we’ve actually done something that would be worthy of it. Beating Stanford would be a good start.

Nothing in particular, just a hunch. The realization that their entire season hinges on this game against a somewhat lesser opponent will likely make a powerful motivator, I expect.

I don’t put much stock into USU whooping up on San Jose State. In their previous three games (USF, Texas, and Utah), SJSU lost by a combined score of 152-38. The fact they even stepped onto the field against USU is noteworthy in and of itself, and I’m sure their motivation against USU was somewhere between slim and none.
