Pick-em sounds about right, Utes are playing well right now and WKU is on a roll as well, some impressive wins on the road. Should be a fun game.

That dude just gets it. Shows up at the local games, goes out of his way to go into the tunnel after the half-time Jr. Jazz game to talk with the kids and take pictures, just a great guy.

It means BYU was REALLY bad at football last year, and particularly in that game against the Tigers. Except I just checked and at least according to the box score on ESPN, BYU ended up with 97 total yards of offense in that game so we missed it by 2. So close!

Incoming recruiting class is supposed to be really good so it appears Utes are on the upswing. We’ll see if that translates into a tourney bid next year.

I joined Dave Flemming’s (PBP announcer for the San Francisco Giants) group because he makes a charitable donation for every entrant. I will just say I am not doing well. Had Virginia as my champ and Houston as my dark horse final four team, don’t ask me why.

The only redeeming thing about the NIT is the chance to see the Utes in action for at least another game. Crowd will probably be about as sparse as the first game, perhaps even more so with school out. Hey, at least parking won’t be an issue.

They missed a real opportunity to go full international rules and allow goaltending. Wouldn’t surprise me to see most if not all of these rules implemented in the near future. The women’s game has already gone to quarters, leaving men’s college basketball as I believe the only level of basketball anywhere that still uses halves.

I think he wants at least the six fouls like the NBA. Doing away with foul outs entirely would be interesting but I’ve never seen him offer a solution as to how that would be done. In my mind there are at least 3 ways it could be done:

1. Free for all, no consequence beyond the standard free-throws allowed

I would have liked to see us go for the win with a three just because I didn’t think we were winning that thing in OT without Collette and Rawson. That being said, you really can’t ask for much more than a shot at the rim. Guy just made a nice block.

Horrible calls all around. I think Larry K is onto something with his suggestion they go to 6 fouls if the refs are going to call it that tight, otherwise you have a guy pick up 2 quick fouls and he’s gone for the rest of the half.

Well deserved for both. I thought Rawson might have an outside shot an honorable mention. In my mind the Player of the Year is down to Holiday and Ayton; have to wonder if the recent ESPN allegations play any part in the voting.

As well it should as there are better measurements out there. Yet for some reason it appears it’s still what’s being used for the whole quadrant angle they’re using this year.

I’d be curious to know how close these alleged payments coincide with Kuzma’s big game against Duke in Madison Square Garden. That happened in December of 2015 and was sort of his coming out party on the national stage.

I’m still setting my expectations as an NIT bid, but boy are things setting up nicely. I figured 4-1 would be a solid finish to the season, assuming we’d lose to the Huskies. Now that we’ve won …. just have to take care of business.

The fact the NFL draft will now be on 3 networks is crazy.
