Opportunities are there, but also means that’s a tough closing stretch. I’m hoping for two out of five, which likely means beating USC at home and picking up one road game over either ASU or Colorado. I would say there has been a definite uptick in attendance. Not enough to fill the lower bowl just yet, but it’s getting there.

Any hope of the Utes getting back on the bubble rests on that trend continuing. Have to beat the Beavs tonight and take care of business against the Bay Area schools next week. Everything else is quad 1 or 2 games.

Take advantage of the shuttle service they started this year. We park up by Eccles Broadcasting and take the shuttle and it works great. General parking is across the street from the softball field (by the roundabout) and it’s a short walk down to the shuttle stop. I know they also have a Guardsman shuttle but I’m not as familiar with that one.

I get why they’re moving, the area is seemingly more worse every year, but I’m still sad to see the end of Smith’s Ballpark. One of the best views in baseball and for simply a venue to watch a game, it was great. 15th in the country if you use total rebounding %, which is probably a better measure since it adjusts for different tempos. Also 3rd in the country in eFG% defense behind Tennessee and Houston. Getting teams to miss and then grabbing the rebounds seems to be working so far 🙂

Season ticket holders not showing up is definitely an issue. The entire rest of the row next to our seats hasn’t been to one game this season, yet those tickets don’t show up as available if someone was trying to get tickets to a game.

Still blows me away that Kincaid wasn’t even a finalist for the Mackey Award.

That Arizona win will continue to pay dividends. If Utes can hold serve at home and steal a couple more on the road, the tournament suddenly becomes a real possibility.

Certainly helps that we have Burgess in the fold now.

Poor shooting by the opposition has happened enough times to not be a coincidence by now. This team is winning with defense and just enough offense most of the time. Not always the prettiest, but it’s an easy team to get behind because they battle.

This is an excellent point. Probably not much excitement for the bowl and a whole lot of looking back at what might have been. On a grading scale, I’m giving this season an A- currently (and if we win the Rose Bowl that probably becomes a solid A). If your scenario had played out, it’s probably a B/B- grade.

This is probably my bias showing from being a San Francisco Giants fan, but I like Flemming (he and the legendary Jon Miller share radio broadcasts for the Giants.) Gilmore on the other hand … meh.

Based on the crowd last night, might be a while before that happens. Late tip, bad opponent, plenty of excuses for why people weren’t there, but it was still a pretty pathetic showing. The MUSS is great in football but they were no-shows for the most part. One thing BYU and Utah State definitely have over us in basketball is student participation.

The guy that jumped out to me was Mike Saunders Jr. Brings a quickness that we have not seen in a while and plays solid on-ball defense. He and Worster should complement each other well at the point.
