I did appreciate that our defense has its own sponsor now. “Please welcome the defense back onto the field…” That was a new one.

That 1988 victory was shocking! Up to that point I had never seen Utah beat BYU and wasn’t sure I ever would(I was technically alive in 1978, but 3 year olds tend to not recognize the significance of victories in rivalry games.)
Might still be my favorite BYU game memory all these years later.

My hope is that the current state of the basketball program is not as bad as it looks from the outside. These kids are coming in on recruiting trips, talking with the current players, maybe have an insight that we don’t have, and are still choosing to come here. But yeah, we need to get these guys to stick around! If they do, future is looking bright.

Yep, been my argument for a little while now. Play BYU and Utah State on a 4 years/2 years rotation. I know I’m in the minority on here in that I like the traditions of the local rivalries but realistically you should only be playing one in-state game every year. Nope, in my opinion the NCAA got this one wrong, at least in the severity of the punishment. New rules allow for a player to sign with an agent (at least in a limited capacity) and still return to school. I’ll definitely at least give this a listen, something I’ve done less and less of when it comes to local sports radio as of late. In my opinion Checketts and Riley were the best pairing in Utah radio so bringing him back to 700 is intriguing.

Interesting that you mention that because I was discussing the midfield logo with my Dad at the Spring game. Personally I’d go with the drum and feather, but I wouldn’t have any problem if they went with the interlocking U’s.

Some of the transition seems to not necessarily be away from the drum and feather, but also away from the block U (especially TV graphics.) Not the flashiest of hires, but a solid one. He gets his teams to the Dance, though they don’t always do that well once they are there.

I’ve never heard of a mercy rule being implemented in college baseball, but according to Wikipedia (for what that’s worth) it’s available. The IBAF rule mentioned is 10+ runs lead after 7 complete innings.
