I’m excited for Dampier. I think he’ll be a big improvement from last year, as long as he’s given the keys to the car and Whitt doesn’t pull things back. I’m going to temper my expectations and go from there.
With all of this, I do want to say I’m sorry for the New Mexico Lobos. They’re team has been gutted of their head coach, OC, and now QB. I…[Read more] -

Jim, Sadly you are too right. I was explaining NIL to my kid last night, that a 17 year old kid is going to be making $7million dollars to play at BYU. I pondered my role though small and insignificant as a fan and supporter. As long as we keep filling the seats and buying the merchandise nothing will change. As a parent if my kids could earn a…[Read more]

This is how simple this issue is: The Church leader said that the school should not engage in pay to play. Certainly everyone is free in our capitalistic society and wild west ncaa NIL rules to pay someone to play, or to be paid to play. But the statement has been made by the church. Regardless of who paid the young man, he is playing for the…[Read more]

SteelUte replied to the topic Isaac Wilson to BYU? in the forum Football 2 months, 2 weeks ago
He had the stature of an Ewok instead of the wookie we needed to stay in the pocket. He couldn’t make the kessel run in less than 12 parsecs but he sure would hold onto the ball until the whole galaxy collapsed on him. It seemed like the team thought of him as an entitled brat that wanted to go into Tosche’s station to pick up some power…[Read more]

SteelUte replied to the topic Cam not expected back in the forum Football 2 months, 2 weeks ago
I kind of wish he would come back as sort of a grad assistant, QB coach intern with the ability to play if we needed. Love the guy, I believe his best interest is to move on as well as for this program. Thanks for the memories Cam, you’ll always be a legend here.

SteelUte replied to the topic In my best Jerry Seinfeld voice: What’s the deal with assistant coach Harding? in the forum Football 2 months, 3 weeks ago
I think it would be on par for this season for Whit to announce he’s coming back and to announce Harding as our new OC about 4:59 PM on Friday 12/06/24.
Nothing against him, but we need some new blood at OC to charge this offense. -

SteelUte replied to the topic 5th String QB in the forum Football 2 months, 4 weeks ago
Nate may have been injured at some point last season, but if I recall correctly Bottari started due to Barnes being injured and Nate Johnson had left the program for the portal at that point. Hope he’s getting playing time wherever he is.

SteelUte replied to the topic Hypothetical: Who's your pick for Utah HC (assuming KW leaves)? in the forum Football 2 months, 4 weeks ago
I’m all for giving Scalley a chance for a few years. I believe he knows the DNA of this program. Culture, recruiting, etc. Some view that as a weakness or problem that he will follow Whitt’s footsteps too much, others want him to be Whitt 2.0. I think he’ll give s a really good shot moving forward. He’s smart, he’s charismatic, he seems to be a…[Read more]

SteelUte replied to the topic Saturday we will honor Aaron Lowe and Ty Jordan during senior night in the forum Football 3 months ago
We’ve all grieved their loss, and I hope we always honor them. The emotion in those first moments of loudness will always be remembered. I wonder what difference Ty would have made the past few seasons- he would have helped us win those Rose bowls? No doubt he was trending to be one of our all time greats. What could have Aaron became for our d…[Read more]

SteelUte replied to the topic Here's a coug wishing Utah the best in the forum Football 3 months ago
We’re in a lose lose situation. Win and our rival most likely goes to the conference championship game.
Lose and we don’t make a bowl game, not as important as it once was, but I’m sure Whitt cares about that and getting anyone who wants to play more reps still helps. -
SteelUte replied to the topic Cyclone Fan – Coming in peace in the forum Football 3 months ago
Don’t believe what you read online about Utah fans- Most of those negative comments were from BYU trolls who were trying to poison the well so to speak. Most of us will admit, we loved the Pac 12, we were sad to see it blow up. We are grateful to be in the big 12. Most of us didn’t think we were gonna walk in and run the show. That is what the…[Read more]

SteelUte replied to the topic Scalley to be 'very involved' in process to hire future OC in the forum Football 3 months ago
Want to hear the GOAT, (or at least top 2 qb of all time) talk about this?
Basically with the portal, college football programs don’t exist anymore. They are teams.
They don’t have time to have complicated schemes and identities, because the player turnover is too frequent.
A program had an…[Read more] -

What’s also crazy, if you look at the NFL guys:
Covey on the IR
Moss on the IR
Kincaid was out yesterday.I think we need to look at anyone who has ever worn under armour gear.

You can have any color you want as long as it is black- that is Whitt. You can run the offense any way you like as long as you run it 70-75% of the time.

20. Cam Rising will be considering another medical redshirt to come back for 2025, and Coach Whitt will say the decision is up to him.
