I was so down on this program coming into the year, but that was as big a hoops win probably since Duke at Madison Square Garden. This team has a pulse and excitement is building.

clearly, I don’t know the whole story. I just feel bad for these kids who come from different environments than Logan, UT whose names are suddenly all over the news for an offense in many places at worst might get you an equivalent of a parking ticket. Maybe I’m wrong, but I hope this isn’t law enforcement simply flexing their muscle.

I expect Utah to go 3-0 OOC (BYU, Montana St, @ Wyoming). BYU will be more challenging this year, I expect a closer game.

a couple of years ago I did a drive to Santa Fe, New Mexico, which is about 1/2 way between SLC and San Antonio. Its a beautiful drive, but its a lot of winding, two lane roads through Colorado and New Mexico. Taos and Santa Fe are very nice, but Albuquerque is sketchy.

So … playing around with FiveThirtyEight’s playoff prediction model and it’s very clear Oklahoma has a massive impact on Utah earning a playoff bid.

If Utah wins out, and it’s chalk from everyone but Oklahoma, Utah has a 62% chance of CFP. If Oklahoma wins, Utah goes to 21%
