Must see, but it was hard to watch. That was graphic.
Seems like a long time ago since, Alex and Urban were here. But I went to every game that season and have pics of Alex at the Fiesta Bowl coming to the end zone and pumping up the Utah fans after victory. Still have fondness for him and hope he does whatever he set his mind to do.…[Read more]

Dramatic now? No one is being forced to stay home. You may freely leave home for a walk in the canyon, the park, a restaurant take out, grocery shopping, supplies for landscaping your garden, etc.
And medical teams are supplying politicians with the info to make decisions. Just like an economic advisor will suggest strategy based on current…[Read more]

I look at numbers as math, like an accounting spreadsheet. What are the numbers and trends? Are my interpretations correct? IDK. Clunky? Perhaps.
The Vietnam comparison was simply a well known historical reference, not a political scare tactic. I’m an anonymous person on a local sports message board. I gain nothing. There is a point, to…[Read more]

Covid has killed more Americans in two months than the Vietnam War did in two decades. Think about that. And that’s with society drastically changing social engagements.
It’s unreasonable for arm chair QBs to say Ivy League educated epidemiologists were overzealous, in part, because it’s not over yet. 60K deaths will likely grow to six digits by…[Read more]

Curious if anyone has insight on a couple of 4/5 * LB transfers not on the current roster.
Mique Juarez was reported to arrive from UCLA.
Christian Folau from BYU.
Academics, motivation to play, team rules?

USC, Washington, Utah, and Arizona State all with 100/1 odds. Four SEC teams with greater than 15/1 odds.

Some valid points, but many overstated ones as well. The All PAC 12 team couldn’t play with LSU? Auburn was within three points of the Tigers and Oregon alone lead them for 59 minutes. Oregon’s defense was better at the end of their season than the start.
Yes, there is a gap. Not just with PAC 12 teams. The ACC is garbage aside from Clemson. The…[Read more]

Swoop Doggy Dogg replied to the topic kwhitt – coach of the year? in the forum Football 4 years, 12 months ago
The trophy embodies three phases; scholarship, leadership, and integrity, both on and off the field. Meaning, it’s subjective. It’s an honor for Utah’s coach to be nationally recognized and honored. No scandals like Baylor, Arizona, USC, Penn State, Ohio State, etc.

Yeah, sorry, wasn’t trying to imply you specifically were dismissing Wilmore.

The one most likely to transfer would have to be DVC. He’s a senior and may have graduated. But he’ll also be in the mix for a lot of playing time. He’s a fast kid. I don’t see underclassmen going anywhere.
I think it will be RB by committee, until someone breaks from the pack. Or as in years past, Utah has often had a very effective 1-2 combo.…[Read more]

Remember how Utah fans wanted nothing to do with Zach Moss in his freshman season, after he didn’t follow lead blocker, and Morris Trophy winner, Isaac Asiata into the end zone and Utah lost on the goal line against Cal?
I wouldn’t write off Wilmore. He’s going to be fine. RBs look good next season.

Swoop Doggy Dogg replied to the topic Who are the 2020 PAC12 playoff contenders? in the forum Pac-12 5 years ago
USC will be the team to beat in the South. They aren’t losing much talent.
ASU is losing most of their offensive line, Eno Benjamin and their top WRs. I think their offense is going to have trouble and Daniels will be running for his life. Defense should be solid again.
UCLA will be better, but lose their LBs and RB. Not easy groups to…[Read more]

Swoop Doggy Dogg replied to the topic It's funny how one small tweet has people so upset in the forum Football 5 years ago
Sometimes jokes fall very flat via texts or SM. Especially when the audience doesn’t know the sense of humor. And talking smack to a stranger, or in this case millions of strangers, is simply unprofessional coming from the football team itself. But whatever. Not the end of the world. If people want to be crybabies, so be it.

Swoop Doggy Dogg replied to the topic Um, Just a question, when was the last time we had a class with no JUCOs? in the forum Football 5 years ago
Interesting. Yeah, that’s true. Devontae Booker, John White, Garrett Bolles to name a few.
I’ve heard it’s always better to develop freshmen in the system and have them around for 4-5 years rather than take a flyer on a JUCO guy only going to be around for 1-2 years.
I wonder how the transfer portal is changing that scenario, as well. Utah’s…[Read more]

Swoop Doggy Dogg started the topic Utah's best recruiting class ever will be SR's in 2023 vs. Florida & Baylor OOC in the forum Football 5 years ago
We’ll see how it all shakes out, but with the signing of Solatoa Moea’i, Utah moved up to a national ranking of 32. This does not include the RMs that are nearly 4* quality like Hunter Lotulelei, Tennessee Pututau, etc.
Also the highest average rating of recruit ever, over .8700.

This was within the last couple of years, and I can’t recall the kid, but one recruit from CA said he was leaving the PAC 12 footprint because of the poor officiating. Not having a team in the playoff has to hurt too.
Used to be that USC was the national team taking 5 star guys like Joe McKnight from the SEC. Now it’s the reverse.

QB- Interesting they took a 1-for-1 senior in Bentley. Either they haven’t liked what they’ve seen in Rising and want another year of development or as an insurance policy because they don’t like Shelley and Lisk.
RB- Devontae Henry Cole will be in the mix too. I thought he and Brumfield looked like the best backs outside of Moss. It will be…[Read more]

Specific concern has to be CB. I’m assuming Sewell will play safety along with Hubert. But sounds like his injury is bad. If it’s an ACL, he might not be back in time for next season.
JJ started as a true freshman. Seems like that would be enticing for some incoming highly recruited corners. I don’t follow recruiting much, so don’t know if the…[Read more]
