Even if things go against Washtington, they’ll still be playing for the chance to play in the Rose Bowl. If Oregon beats OSU, but then goes to the championship, and loses to USC, then the Rose Bowl would have to decide whether to take a 10-2 Washington or a 10-3 Oregon. I think they take Washington in that scenario.

In the “Anger Index” section of this article, it states that to have a good resume, three components are necessary:

      1) a win over a great team (top 10%)

      2) three or more wins over good teams (top 1/3)

      3) at least two true road wins, to show you can compete in unfriendly confines

The article then proceeds to mention nine teams that meet this criteria, with no mention of the Utes. Is it an oversight? I think we meet the criteria:

      1) beat USC (#11 composite ranking)

      2) beat USC, OSU (#23 composite), and WSU (#36 composite)

      3) beat WSU and ASU on the road

What am I missing? Obviously, if we win this week, we meet the criteria. So let’s just do that.

Because regardless of whether Utah will use that year of eligibility, Rose probably wants to preserve the year to use somewhere, even if he intends to transfer. Why blow a year of eligibility on one game?

I suspect SDSU has a standing offer from the Big12, and a contingent offer from the PAC12. So I suspect they give their notice, and figure that worst case scenario, they join the Big12 in August or September, if things don’t materialize with the PAC12.

This one worries me, because it seems as likely as any other explanation that somebody offered to double his “salary,” and he decided he couldn’t pass that offer up (and I don’t really blame anyone for taking money when its offered– money solves a lot of problems). Eventually, there will be 3-8 blue blood programs, and everybody else is just a feeder program for when those blue bloods need a lineman, or a kicker, or whatever. The system will ruin college football. It will relegate 90% of the programs to being AAA or lower.

The Rose Bowl has never been played on a Sunday. The fact that this game was played in this time slot has nothing to do with the NFL.

A different browser seemed to resolve problem. Ticket office responded on Twitter that lots of tickets are still available

Also, in this scenario, if you win the Championship Game, you go to the Rose Bowl. If you lose the Championship Game, you also go to the Rose Bowl. Not a bad scenario to be staring at in early December.
