B+ Not sure how getting blown out in bowl game and losing to Oregon in Conf championship warrants an A-

4th and 1 play calling was brutal. IT assumed superiority at the line of scrimmage. Could have easily spread them wide and used an RPO or QB draw. Inviting 9 in the box is seldom a good way to pick up 4th and short. I think we got outcoached severely especially when it came to offensive game planning. The inability to sustain drives directly led to the defensive lapses by being on field too often and long.

My biggest concern is an outdated offensive philosophy of run-heavy early downs and constantly playing behind the sticks. Best time to pass is on first down play action heavy would be optimal. I think the Oregon game goes totally different if not overly reliant on “establishing the run game”. Should have come out and attacked early and often down field.

It’s simple. A best case scenario this week is Okie State over Oklahoma, Kansas over Baylor (completely wipes out Big 12 this year) and Auburn over Tide. In two weeks we will cheer for LSU over GE.
Utah wins out they are absolutely in under this scenario.

Nonsense – this was pure coaching scheme deficiency not a lack of tall defenders. You people are blind to the fact that they played press man coverage tonight because that is what Utah does and did not adjust. they could have played dime zone 2 high coverage and sacrificed some QB pressure. At the end of the day this coaching staff does not adjust on either side of the ball. BYU’s drop zone coverage seemed to get the job done against USC

Shelley was good enough to win the Pac 12 championship game last year but he was victim of the single worst display of receiver dropitis I have ever witnessed. Seems every pass he threw bounced of a Ute’s receivers stone hands.

Wasn’t double coverage all night. I am thinking most on this board dont actually understand the details of football coaching and schemes. They played man press coverage 90 percent of the time. You are misleading people by saying this just to make the point that there was nothing we could do because their talent was so much better which is patently false. We got out-coached which is nothing new for this team.

Not true – Utah has put more players into the NFL over the past many years. I am sick of the hype on 4 star HS athletes. Who makes it to the NFL is a better indicator of actual talent than guesses at HS guys for godsake.

Wasnt double coverage most of the time. Single high safety getting burned along with cornerback is not double coverage.

A little blame on offensive scheme is deserved here. Never should have been a bunch formation which invites 10 in the box down on the 3 yard line coupled with an RPO where your QB consistently makes the bad decision. An innovative offensive mind would spread the field 4 wide giving open lanes for Huntley to walk in. Poor offensive coaching again. I wont even get into the defensive cover scheme. Press man to man when you are getting burned is pure stubbornness a sign of old-man football.
