Incorrect, the Stanford game is not meaningless, if Utah loses they’re the 5 seed next week whether Cal wins or loses.
Utah has to beat Stanford and Cal has to lose to CU for Utah to get the 4th seed.

Any extra toughness he brought would have been negated several times over by his offensive ineptitude.

TheJuggernaut replied to the topic So, assuming Cal loses, and Utah and USC both win, who gets the #5 spot? in the forum Basketball (Men) 7 years, 8 months ago
SC is locked into 6th, Cal and Utah both have the tiebreaker over them. If Utah beats Stanford and Cal loses to CU, Utah is 4th, Cal is 5th. If either Utah loses to Stanford or Cal beat CU Cal is 4th, Utah 5th.
Edit: If Colorado beats Cal it doesn’t matter what Utah does vs Stanford, Utah will be the 4th seed due to having the tiebreaker over Cal.

He would have taken Jayce Johnson’s minutes and wouldn’t have been any more productive than Jayce has been. And then he would have graduated, while Jayce will play for three more years.
Actually if last season is any indication Reyes would have been less productive for us than Jayce has been. Last year Reyes averaged 8.4 minutes per game for us,…[Read more]

USF’s RPI is currently 91, most don’t consider a loss to a top 100 RPI team on a neutral court a bad loss.

Oregon St is our only bad loss, but yes, barring some unlikely wins in Vegas NIT here we come.

Yes I would expect Oregon, Arizona, and UCLA to all make the semis, meaning as the 4th seed we’d have to beat Oregon then the winner of Az/UCLA.

Beating the NoCal teams this week, getting the fourth seed, beating fifth seed Cal then Oregon in the PAC tournament gets us in the conversation, I don’t think it’s enough for an at large though.

Supposing we win both games this week, and finish fourth, I would expect our RPI (currently 82) to bump up into maybe the low 60s. USC (RPI 38) is our best win, Oregon St (RPI 295) is our worst loss. If we get the 4 seed in the PAC tournament and beat 5 seed Cal, we then get Oregon. Beating Oregon and getting to the PAC final puts us back on the…[Read more]

Oregon St killed us far more than not having any signature wins. We spent some time in bracketology’s Last Four Out leading up to Oregon St. We were on the bubble, had we beaten Oregon St, won at Colorado, then beaten the NoCal schools at home we would have been squarely on the bubble, and we likely seal an at large bid if we get to the PAC 12…[Read more]
